Saturday, Aug. 19, the annual Woodward Dream Cruise that stretched along the avenue between Ferndale and Pontiac, Michigan took place as tens of thousands of automotive enthusiasts converged outside The Motor City.
While Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard could be seen addressing crowds, mingling with participants and reminding the public to be safe, one of his reserve deputies was spotted doling out a corporal warning for getting too out of hand.
Recounting the incident to Fox 2 after video of his being spanked by the law enforcement official circulated online, 18-year-old Zach Walker conveyed how peer pressure from other participants had finally gotten the better of him leading him to do a burnout directly in front of the reserve deputy.
“The officer stepped out in front of me and put his hand on my hood and said, ‘Sir, can you get out of the vehicle for me?'” the teen told the outlet.
“I thought he said ‘Put your hands behind your back,’ so I put my hands behind my back and he goes, ‘No, bend over,'” explained Walker who acted out the confusion he had felt. In the video, Walker could be seen speaking with the reserve deputy behind his truck as he followed orders that led to his getting one quick spank and a stern warning. “He goes, ‘Don’t do burnouts again.'”

While observers laughed over the incident, the driver could be seen getting back in his truck as the law enforcement official spoke to him through the passenger window from the curb. Asked by Fox 2 how he had taken the physical reprimand, Walker explained, “I grew up in a household where being spanked was what happened if you did something wrong. So I took it that way.”
Since the punishment and embarrassment had spared him a ticket, the teen added that “If he was watching, I’d say thank you, really.”
Some took umbrage with the spank with puns like “That’s A**ault brotha!” while others were as supportive as Walker noted in the comments where the video was posted on TikTok, “Honestly this is more humbling than a ticket.”
“An awesome officer, with a good sense of humor. More important [than] that a lesson learned,” wrote one as someone else opined, “He earned respect that day…with some friendly banter! That’s all it takes. And he’ll remember this day forever.”
As noted, Sheriff Bouchard had been in attendance at the event and photos were shared in the lead up on social media.
