Two Oregon mayors were pummeled for what was labeled as hateful, homophobic, and offensive posts on Facebook concerning the LGBTQ community and illegal immigrants, resulting in both men resigning after leftist outrage exploded over it.

The mayors stepped down within a day of each other, according to the New York Post.
Newport Mayor Dean Sawyer and Baker City Mayor Matt Diaz both resigned following the surfacing of social media posts.
Sawyer issued an apology on Monday for sharing memes and content that offended them. The posts were on a Facebook page used by the law enforcement community, Oregon Public Radio reported, and have occurred over time.
A local LGBTQ+ group held a demonstration at Newport City Hall, with more than 100 people demanding that Sawyer leave office. Five of his six colleagues on the Newport City Council attended the protest and made it clear they were ready to ask for his resignation at a special meeting scheduled for Monday. The police chief in the central coast city of about 10,000 and the Lincoln County sheriff also hammered Sawyer’s posts.

The posts go back to 2016 and Sawyer is accused of belittling numerous groups that include illegal immigrants, women, and the LGBTQ community, according to the media outlet.
One of the memes that caused a meltdown by Sawyer’s leftist constituents showed a case of Bud Light bottles that included the caption, “I called AutoZone to order a case of tranny fluid and this is what I got.”
Bud Light has been widely boycotted by many Americans for crawling into bed with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. That boycott has cost the company billions and is still ongoing.
“I am sorry – in its simplest and sincerest form,” Sawyer reportedly wrote to the city manager and city council president in his resignation letter.
“I now realize that some of my actions and my words have hurt people I love and care about. This is something that I take full responsibility for,” he stated.

Sawyer is a former police officer. He told Oregon Public Radio in an interview that the posts were “stupid” and “juvenile” and didn’t reflect his true feelings.
His resignation was followed the next day by Diaz’s.
Diaz was slammed for a posted meme on his personal Facebook page in June that showed four Pride flags arranged in the shape of a swastika, the Baker City Herald claimed. He claimed he’s not leaving his seat because of that meme, but because he and his family are moving to a different city for a higher-paying job.
“Just as most of Baker City, residents and administration alike, I don’t make enough money to support my family,” Diaz told the newspaper. “Finding a job in today’s society is a long process. For me, that process started weeks before the social media incident ever occurred.”
His resignation goes into effect on July 16.
Diaz told residents in a June 20 statement that the social media post was “meant to illustrate how the DEI or ‘woke’ ideology is being propagandized and militantly forced on American society” and insisted that he is “not a Nazi sympathizer or supporter,” according to Oregon Live.
“I also hold no hate for those who choose a different lifestyle, religion, or sexual preference than my own,” Diaz asserted.
