‘Thank God!’ Twitter wastes no time responding when Geraldo announces he’s out at The Five

Geraldo Rivera announced on Twitter Wednesday that he is officially off “The Five” and his last appearance is scheduled for next week without giving a reason why, but he managed to whine that “Being odd man out isn’t always easy.”

“I’m off The Five. My last scheduled show appearances are Thursday and Friday June 29th and 30th. It’s been a great run and I appreciate having had the opportunity. Being odd man out isn’t always easy. For the time being, I’m still Correspondent at Large,” the leftist former co-host tweeted hinting at something else being in the works.

Fox News has not commented on Rivera’s exit but the long-time leftist contributor had to have seen it coming a month ago when his appearances on “The Five” were nixed.

In May, Rivera wrote that two scheduled appearances on the show had been canceled.

“My appearances today and tomorrow on The Five have been canceled. I’m sure there’s a good reason. Never fear, I’ll be back week after next. Stay safe and happy. Thanks,” Rivera tweeted at the time.

Following the sudden and still unexplained departure of Fox News host Tucker Carlson, Rivera took the opportunity to attack the conservative pundit for his coverage of January 6th, “I don’t wish ill on anybody, but there is no doubt – as I said at the time – Tucker Carlson’s perverse January 6 conspiracy theory was ‘bullsh-t.'”

“The Five” is possibly the most popular show on cable news these days. Many on the right dislike Geraldo Rivera but he did provide a lot of fodder for pundits, and his fairly frequent pummeling by co-host Greg Gutfeld was entertaining.

Rivera joined Fox News in 2001 as a war correspondent and eventually wound up on “The Five.”

He took former leftist host Juan Williams’ place on the show in 2021. Two other liberals periodically fill the token leftist spot… Jessica Tarlov and Harold Ford Jr. with Tarlov appearing the most.

There has been no announcement on who will officially fill Rivera’s spot on the panel.

Conservatives were thrilled by the announcement… leftists, not so much:
