Hannity’s dance with smooth operator Gavin Newsom was interesting

Fox News host Sean Hannity sat down with Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) for an interview on Monday and forced him to watch clips of Biden’s gaffes, showing how he is not cognitively or physically fit to be president and then he put Newsom in the hot seat over it.

Hannity confronted Newsom who predictably blathered on and defended the president, claiming he was more than fit to serve despite ample evidence to the contrary.

The two men sparred over Biden’s accomplishments while in office and then Hannity got to the heart of the matter.

“Here’s the problem that Joe Biden has. You’re arguing, you’re fighting, you’re battling, you’re articulate… We could sit here for three hours, probably have a beer or two in the middle of this, and you can keep going,” Hannity stated.

“Here’s the problem. Your president can’t have this conversation. He’s not capable of it,” and then added, “Is Joe Biden up to the job of being president? And as a little reminder, take a look at your president in the monitor.”

Then Hannity played a compilation of Biden’s “embarrassing struggles” showing Newsom the gaffes where the president mispronounced names, mumbled incoherently, and appeared to forget his trip to Ireland. That was far too small an example but it should have driven the point home.

“And then you’ve got Joe Biden who’s having a hard time standing up. Take a look at that one,” Hannity told Newsom while playing the video of Biden falling over in Colorado Springs on June 1 at an Airforce Academy graduation ceremony.

For a brief second as the clips ran, you could see in Newsom’s face the cringe factor. It was fleeting, but it was there.

“I want you to tell me that you think he is cognitively strong enough to lead this country against China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, and a new Axis of Evil and that he’s the guy… he cannot articulate the economy the way you just did,” Hannity said confronting Newsom on the issue.

“Yeah, but I don’t think he’s capable, I know he’s capable. I see results. I’ve seen a masterclass in results the last few years,” Newsom falsely equivocated. “You don’t see the results on the CHIPS Act. You don’t see the results on the infrastructure. You had infrastructure week every week for four years.”

“CHIPS Act… we’re still importing them all from Taiwan which is about to be taken over by China,” Hannity interjected.

Facts don’t seem to get in the way for Newsom who steamrolled right on through revising reality as he went. He went on about so-called “real results” and jobs programs. He also, of course, crowed about green energy investments.

Hannity wasn’t having it, “He raised taxes on oil, gas, coal, pensions and ‘taxes corporations.’ Corporations don’t pay taxes. They pass the cost onto consumers. That’s all they do. You know that.”

As Newsom stumbled over his words, Hannity doubled down on Biden and asked, “Do you think he’s cognitively strong enough to be president?”

“I have conversations with him all the time. Yes,” Newsom claimed. “I’ve talked to him when he’s been overseas. I’ve been in Air Force One, Marine One, the limo with him.”

Hannity pressed Newsom on how many people were begging him to run for president but he dodged the question.

“You never answered my question directly,” Hannity told Newsom. “How many times does your phone ping a day, people saying you need to get in this race because they agree with me that he’s not up to the job.”

“I see what you’re trying to do,” the governor responded. “I’m not answering.
