President Joe Biden took gaslighting to new heights Friday as he contended disfavor for his flailing administration was the fault of corporate media.
In addition to being Biden’s first major interview since February, the president’s sit down with MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle for “The 11th Hour” was the first since announcing his reelection campaign. To that end, Ruhle sought his answer for why he continued to poll poorly.

“You’re talking about real, practical solutions…Why do you think you don’t get more credit for it? Why do you think your polling is where it is?” she asked, earning an initial deflection from the president who argued every reelection winner polled as bad as him. “Put polling aside then. Sentiment in this country, despite all these wins, is not very good.”
The follow-up led Biden to name himself a victim of corporate media while also pegging them as a victim of their own industry.
“All they’ve heard is negative news for three years,” he said of the American people. “Everything is negative. I’m not being critical of the press, but you turn on the television — the only way you’re gonna get a hit is if there’s something negative, you know. You don’t — anyway, that’s number one.”
Essentially, Biden would have the public believe that there is any number of benefits his administration has brought forward that outweigh crippling inflation and disastrous foreign policy that has put the country closer to World War III, all while having an ideologically complicit media that seamlessly saw the lateral move of his own former press secretary Jen Psaki from the White House to MSNBC.
No matter the president’s portrayal, polling data released to coincide with his announcement found the vast majority of voters were opposed to his seeking reelection.

Still, Biden carried on claiming that the benefits of his administration have yet to have their impact. “But number two, I think we’re in a situation where you have much of what we were able to do only is going to come into play now. For example, I met today — I set up what they call a ‘second Cabinet’ — within my Cabinet I have an enforcement group.”
“They’re the ones going out making sure that we’re getting the roads built, the highways built and getting the lead pipes out of every neighborhood so people aren’t dying or getting very sick. They’re the ones who are making sure that people begin to know what’s happened and what’s happening. It’s gonna take time to get this done,” he continued.
“Unless we can make it clear to the American people what it is that we’ve actually done — it’s one thing to say we’re going to rebuild this bridge that is in the process of collapsing, other thing to actually get it built, get it built, and that’s all just starting,” the president concluded on that point.
Reactions to his personal take on how things were going weren’t so readily agreed upon by the public.
I’m sure it has nothing to do with your policies…
