According to National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, the United States is sending yet another massive aid package to Ukraine as Republicans are poised to take control of the House which would put the funding in jeopardy.

Several US officials are saying that the Biden administration will send $400 million more in military aid to Ukraine to fund its war with Russia, according to the Daily Mail. This is happening just before Republicans potentially wrest control of the House from the Democrats.
Control of the House now hinges on races in Arizona, Georgia, and Nevada. The continued massive spending by the US in Ukraine would come into major doubt if the GOP controls the pursestrings of the House.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is planning to skip the G20 where Ukraine will be a hot topic. President Biden departed Thursday night for Bali where it is being held.
As Sullivan announced the aid package, he also noted that it would include important air defense contributions.

“This increased air defense will be critical for Ukraine as Russia continues to use cruise missiles and Iranian-made drones to attack critical civilian infrastructure,” Sullivan stated.
Although he did not mention the size of the aid package, Sullivan did say it would include Stinger missiles for the Avenger system. It will also ostensibly include large amounts of ammunition.
Sabrina Singh, who is a Pentagon spokeswoman, told reporters the new addition of short-range Avenger systems will help Ukraine protect its troops against lethal drones, cruise missiles, and attacks from helicopters. She said she did not know when the systems will get to Ukraine or how long the training will take.

Officials are contending there will be ammunition for the High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, known as HIMARS, which Ukraine has been successfully using in its counteroffensive against Russia.
Included in the package will also be mortars and missiles for the Hawk surface-to-air anti-aircraft system. There will also be 10,000 mortar rounds, thousands of artillery rounds for Howitzers, 400 grenade launchers, 100 Humvees, cold weather gear, and 20 million rounds of ammunition for smaller, individual guns and rifles.
The Russians are pulling out of the key Ukrainian city of Kherson in what some think may be a turning point in the war. However, if Russia’s past actions are taken into account, that may be wishful thinking.

Having said that, Kherson is the only provincial capital that Moscow has captured. Their withdrawal could allow Ukraine to take back territory in the south that it previously lost.
Despite Ukrainian officials claiming that the Russians were forced to flee Kherson, they obviously are fearful of an ambush or other maneuvers.
The amount the United States has funneled to Ukraine in money and weaponry is mind-boggling. To date, we have committed more than $18.6 billion in weapons and other equipment to Ukraine since Russia attacked on Feb. 24.

The new aid package is being justified under Biden’s drawdown authority, which allows the Pentagon to take weapons from its own stock and ship them to Ukraine, according to officials who spoke on anonymity to the Daily Mail.
Biden is optimistic that aid will continue to flow to Ukraine even if Republicans retake the House and possibly the Senate.
“I hope we’ll continue this bipartisan approach of confronting Russia’s aggression in Ukraine,” he told reporters on Wednesday.
