Newsmax host Greg Kelly goes off on Fox News: ‘A bunch of vain people’ who ‘ignore’ Trump

Newsmax host Greg Kelly slammed Fox News for appearing to ignore former President Trump before the midterm elections while Fox News host Laura Ingraham cautioned Republicans to focus on winning, not “settling a score” in 2024.

On Wednesday, Kelly tore into the media over attacks against Trump, and that included Fox News for evidently not giving Trump his due ahead of the midterm elections.

Following the expectation of a “red wave” that never materialized in the elections, pundits from both sides of the political aisle blamed Trump for it after he made hundreds of endorsements. The GOP is widely expected to take control of the House but the Senate is still not decided and everyone is looking for someone to blame at this point.

Kelly, who used to be with Fox News, asserted that the mainstream media “helped create Trump and they will never forgive themselves.” He went on to contend that has made cable news and social media shun the former president.

“He’s not as central as he should be, as I want him to be quite frankly,” Kelly noted while pointing out that Newsmax aired Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday.

“Fox News – yes, Fox News – you know, they ignore him,” the Newsmax correspondent bluntly charged. “They ignored President Trump. That’s what they do.”

He went on to tell the audience that Newsmax carried Trump’s election night remarks from Mar-a-Lago, but Fox News decided not to.

“What do they do over on Fox News?” Kelly asked. “It was a continuation of the Bret Baier, Martha [MacCallum] show, right? ‘No, no, we’re not gonna look at the president of the United States – former. Our chairman Rupert Murdoch, somebody said not to so we’re not going to do it.’”

“Fox. You can’t count on them, folks. They’re just a bunch of vain people in it for the money, status, prestige,” he accused taking direct aim at the conservative network that is Newsmax’s competition.

Meanwhile, Ingraham took a different view of the situation.

In what appeared to be a warning concerning the lead-up to the 2024 presidential race, she laid out on Wednesday what she thinks it will take for a Republican nominee to win. But first, she tore into the Democrats.

“Tonight they’re breathing a sigh of relief right at the White House, even as Democrats almost certainly will lose the House, and they could even lose the Senate. Now, the media, of course, are obsessing over the losses of Trump-backed candidates in states like New Hampshire and Pennsylvania. But little attention is being paid to the astonishing fact that Democrats do not intend to do anything differently over the next two years,” Ingraham asserted.

“Now, this is even with 75% from a Fox News voter analysis saying that they think the country right now is on the wrong track. Despite that, the White House thinks their policies don’t need changing because Biden has created what they’re calling stable, sustainable growth,” she said, nailing the left for egregiously being out of touch with Americans.

“Biden’s message today featured all the usual sleights of hand. Just as in 2020, when he campaigned then on uniting the country. Remember that? Only then go on and brand the country as systemically racist and then trash Trump supporters as semi-fascist. Well, today he raised the goal of uniting America again, only to make false claims about Republican leadership and, of course, to push gun control,” Ingraham continued.

Then she got around to the crux of her message with an admonition to Republicans.

“Going to 2024, the Republicans are going to be looking for candidates who are focused on winning – not just making a point or settling a score. So, to really change it, we’re gonna have to win and we have to win over voters outside our traditional base. That means young people, too,” she explained, while not alluding to one candidate or another.

“That’s got to be the goal for the next presidential election. The populist movement is about ideas. It is not about any one person. If the voters conclude that you’re putting your own ego or your own grudges ahead of what’s good for the country, they’re going to look elsewhere, period,” she warned conservatives.
