MSNBC’s Katy Tur suggests Fetterman could be president: ‘I know there’s some variables’

MSNBC anchor Katy Tur laughably floated the idea that a stroke-impaired Senator-Elect John Fetterman could be potential presidential material while drawing chuckles as she admitted there might be some “variables” to contend with.

The MSNBC panel was crowing Wednesday over Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor Fetterman’s win against Republican Dr. Mehmet Oz when Tur made the ridiculous suggestion that a man who has trouble speaking and processing thoughts could be a viable candidate. Of course, after President Biden, anything goes evidently.

MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell asserted that she had extensive experience with Pennsylvania, and heaped praise on Fetterman for making so much progress with voters.

“I spent a lot of time covering this race, and with Pennsylvania politics, going back some decades, and I started my career there, but the fact that John Fetterman did, first of all, so much better with White non-college-educated voters. Better than Biden, better than Trump, so he ran ahead of both of them, but he also, you know, did fairly well in the cities and in the [unintelligible] counties,” she contended.

“I attribute that partly due to the extremism at the top of the ticket in Pennsylvania,” Mitchell said. “With Mastriano, Dr. Oz’s comments on abortion, which part of that debate that perhaps did not get as much attention, it got attention from the professionals, but not from a lot of the media, because that really was as big of a deal coming out of that debate as Fetterman’s performance.”

Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki was all praise for Fetterman and how he ran his statewide election campaign. She declared that his actions helped build a coalition that was effective in beating his opponent by approximately 3.6 points.

“He left no stone unturned,” Psaki bragged. “And he ran as exactly who he is. I mean, I have no doubt that if John Fetterman were sitting here or in a bar, or if he was with his family in a restaurant, he’d be exactly the same person.”

“So, that is also a lesson for Democrats, too,” she noted. “This is a guy who knows who he is, you know what you’re getting and that ultimately matters in politics.”

The lovefest for Fetterman continued when Tur put forth Fetterman for president.

“Fetterman as a nominee at some point for president – I know there’s some variables, obviously – but I just, you know, what he did in the super red, deep red parts of Pennsylvania, and the way that he ran ahead of Biden, ran ahead of Trump, and it just makes you wonder about his future,” Tur cooed, swooning at the thought of a Fetterman presidency.

Former Republican National Committee Chair Michael Steele was too stunned for words to immediately respond to Tur’s outrageous suggestion.

“Yeah, you. It – yeah,” he stumbled.

Fetterman has to use closed captioning to communicate these days. He had the stroke in May and he still refuses to release his medical records.

Oz graciously accepted his defeat, stating without the use of captioning, “This morning I called John Fetterman and congratulated him. I wish him and his family all the best, both personally and as our next United States Senator,” Oz said in a statement. “Campaigning throughout our great Commonwealth was the honor of a lifetime, and I will cherish the memories and the people I met. Pennsylvanians showed up with passion and a vision for a bright future that I found inspiring every day. I want to thank my supporters, so many of whom worked tirelessly to spread our message and support me and my family.”
