Six Republican school board candidates backed by Governor Ron DeSantis won their races across Florida on Tuesday, claiming his endorsement is “what put us over the edge” and paved the way for them to push for parental rights in classrooms.

DeSantis has previously endorsed 24 candidates in school board races and all of them have won.
One of those candidates, Cindy Spray, won her race in Manatee County. Another candidate named Jackie Rosario swept to victory in Indian River County. The two women appeared on “Fox & Friends” Thursday to discuss the power of a DeSantis endorsement and how he connects with his constituents.
“The support I got from Governor DeSantis is what put us over the edge,” Spray happily told co-host Ainsley Earhardt during the interview. “His view of how we need to stay back to the basics of education aligned with what I had viewed. And of course, my grandchildren. You have kids in school, you want to make sure that we’re getting the education system that we’re actually expecting from the public schools back to the basics and… supporting parental rights.”
“It was tremendous and quite humbling to get that kind of an endorsement from somebody… America’s governor,” she added. “And it just put us over the edge, and I just think… we’re going to do the right thing and give the parent choice that they want and just continue to run on his platform, work on his platform after we are sworn in.”

DeSantis was elected to a second term as governor by a 20-point margin over his Democratic opponent Charlie Crist. He also turned Miami-Dade County red for the first time in 20 years. The support for him is thunderous and the calls by conservatives for him to run for the presidency in 2024 are growing exponentially.
Florida has been on fire concerning parental rights in the classroom and DeSantis has stood his ground, fighting back against Critical Race Theory, obscene books in libraries pushing transgenderism on kids, and teaching sexually explicit topics to young children. The governor also took a strong stance against COVID lockdowns in schools and across the state. He has fought to give parents the right to decide what is appropriate for their children, not the schools.
Parents view DeSantis as an advocate for their rights. He signed the Parental Rights in Education Act earlier this year, which prohibits teachers from discussing gender identity with children younger than third grade.
Ron DeSantis didn't just win reelection tonight, he also helped 24 conservatives win school board seats. 80% of DeSantis-backed candidates won their school board races in 2022. Union-backed candidates that took on @GovRonDeSantis won just 25%.

“It’s exciting, I’m happy, I’m elated, I’m glad it’s over,” Rosario proclaimed. “It’s been a long run. I have been campaigning since January and I have hit some obstacles along the way, some naysayers that just want to lie and twist any kind of narrative just so that they can… be the opponents to the issues at hand, but I’m glad we have prevailed.”
“We won the race,” she declared. “Governor DeSantis’ education plan aligns with the work that I had been doing all along on the school board, so it makes sense to endorse me, and I’m grateful for his endorsement, and I’m just happy that we won.”
“Governor Ron DeSantis shattered election records and produced a win for the ages,” a DeSantis spokeswoman told The Daily Signal on Wednesday. “He also led a coalition of parents to establish students-first, parents’ rights school board governance across the state. The DeSantis Education Agenda was on the ballot and the voters made their voice clear: we want education, not indoctrination.”
Last night was a tremendous victory for Governor Ron DeSantis and education in Florida. We all sent a strong message to the boards of education that we want school board members who will ensure quality education for all of Florida’s children. “The results tonight prove that 2022 is the year of the parent,” Moms for Liberty founder Tina Descovich also told the media outlet. “We are thrilled to have so many new school board members that will finally put students first and respect the fundamental right of parents to direct the upbringing of their children.”
Sen. Marco Rubio, a staunch Christian just as DeSantis is, also won his re-election bid, keeping a Senate seat he has held since 2011. Rubio soundly defeated Democrat opponent Rep. Val Demings.
