Tudor Dixon goes scorched earth on Stephen Colbert after ‘apology’ for doubting Muslim parent is real

Michigan gubernatorial candidate Tudor Dixon, a Republican, has gone scorched Earth on far-left comedian Stephen Colbert over the pseudo apology he issued for doubting the existence of one of her supporters, Muslim parent Khalil Othman.

As previously reported, during a debate last month with incumbent Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Tudor recalled meeting a father who was leaving the Democrat Party because he’d found a book in his son’s school library “describing how to have sex.”

The following day, Colbert mocked her on his CBS late-night show by claiming the father had been “totally made up.” But the joke was on him because the man Dixon had cited does exist.

“[T]he man, Khalil Othman, told the Free Press he is an actual person and did attend the Dixon campaign rally she referred to,” the Detroit Free Press confirmed last week.

In response, Colbert issued an apology on his CBS late-night show Thursday evening but then turned around and insulted Othman:

“It is a terrible thing for someone to deny your very existence. Just ask trans people. … I’m a parent, and I believe that every parent has the right to be aware of what their kids see and read, just like everyone learning about this story has the right to know that as recently as October — last month — this guy claimed to be a Democratic politician but switched after he lost his primary and packed up his toys and went off in a huff to support an election-denying, transphobic, COVID-19 conspiracy theorist,” he said.

Tudor didn’t care for this pseudo apology.

“So, there it is folks. If you dare to speak up and say that you object to sexualized content in school libraries – you are an anti-trans bigot to Stephen Colbert, who can’t even bring himself to offer a sincere apology to Khalil,” she wrote in a column for the Daily Mail that was published Friday.

Othman is among a whole host of Muslim parents in the Michigan area who’ve raised concerns in recent months over their children being exposed to inappropritae sexual content at school.

In Othman’s case, his son was exposed to “This Book Is Gay,” an LGBT-themed book that offers detailed instructions on how to have homosexual sex.

According to leftists like Colbert, parents like Othman are “transphobic” bigots. So are politicians like Tudor who’re trying to get such books removed from schools.

But according to Tudor, Colbert is in turn an elitist — an out-of-touch one who’d rather mock parents than listen to their legitimate concerns.

“Khalil made a clear point that is serious, not just for him, but also for his community. They are upset about what is going on in schools and Democrats don’t care. I’ve traveled across the state of Michigan and have been in communities that have been decimated by Democrat policies,” she continued writing in her op-ed for the Daily Mail.

“I’ve had women and men crying to me, saying ‘bring our communities back.’ Stephen Colbert would do well to visit some of those folks and hear their stories. They aren’t a punchline. They aren’t a joke. They’re real people with real suffering who are expecting real solutions,” Tudor added.

And not just regarding the introduction of sexualized content into their kids’ curriculum. Colbert and leftists “would do well” to also consider the pandemic learning loss experienced by so many children during the COVID lockdowns, the Michigan gubernatorial candidate argued.

“People are coming forward every day, desperate for their kids to get back on track. But Gretchen Whitmer did the bidding of union bosses during the pandemic, shutting kids out of schools and harming their future. During our last debate, Whitmer looked into the camera and with a straight face said she closed schools for just ‘three months,'” she wrote.

“She wouldn’t admit her policies kept many kids out of in-person learning for 18 months. Some schools were closed even this year and she said nothing. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s running mate, Garlin Gilchrist told a Detroit audience, ‘We believe that every child has a right to an amazing public education and that starts with taking care of the adults,'” she added.

Concluding her column, Tudor noted that Whitmer, Gilchrist, and Colbert “are part of the same liberal elitist club that looks down their nose at parents who are concerned about what their children are being taught” — “[t]hose three think they know better than parents.”

“This election is about Khalil and other parents who are fighting for their kids, ensuring they are able to instill their values in their children and not have to worry about liberal activists imposing their own on them at school. At my event, Khalil predicted a red wave because long time Democrats are switching over the school issue. … Khalil and his community will get the last laugh this election at the expense of Gretchen Whitmer and Stephen Colbert,” she wrote.
