Chris Cuomo getting ‘nasty’ about failed ratings, reportedly demanding a new time slot at NewsNation

NewsNation host Chris Cuomo is having a very bad go of it as his ratings seriously tank causing the former CNN talking head to demand that the network give him a new time slot despite the fact his show was already in primetime.

Cuomo’s heavily-promoted show is getting hammered by the conservative network Newsmax despite a never-ending lineup of big names attempting to give him a boost. His show has been on the air for less than a month and has flopped big time.

NewsMax’s Eric Bolling earns better ratings than Cuomo at 150,000 to over 200,000 viewers a night during the 8 pm slot, according to Nielsen Ratings.

Cuomo debuted at NewsNation on October 3 after a hiatus following his termination from CNN last year over helping his disgraced brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo in the wake of multiple sex scandals.

Cuomo allegedly had a meeting with NewsNation’s president of news, Michael Corn, where he reportedly demanded that his time slot be switched from 8 pm to possibly 9 pm on weeknights. That is the time his former show at CNN aired during the week and it averaged 774,000 viewers. His new show doesn’t even come close to that number of viewers.

“Cuomo is getting nasty about the ratings and he’s starting to blame everyone but himself,” a source claimed, according to the New York Post. ‘He’s blaming the network, staff that he personally hired, his lead-in, the promo department, and even the press department!”

“They should run ‘Blue Bloods’ before him,” the source joked, alluding to the cop drama’s ratings of around 300,000 total viewers.

The subject of the New York leftist’s ire currently is NewsNation’s press and marketing teams for not allegedly hyping his show enough. That argument doesn’t hold water considering it has been non-stop hype for his show since it was announced.

The press team is so desperate, they have allegedly urged employees to place information about Cuomo’s show in their email signatures.

Cuomo’s new show only pulled in 147,000 viewers when it debuted. Since that abysmal showing, the numbers have crashed even further with only 119,000 viewers tuning in during the week of October 17. Even an interview with Kanye West couldn’t draw eyeballs. Only 129,000 viewers tuned in for that interview.

Cuomo’s highest-rated show, which boasted 214,000 viewers and aired at 9 pm after the Dr. Mehmet Oz-John Fetterman debate for Pennsylvania’s US Senate seat, drew criticism from media watchers.

“The show sucks,” a TV executive flatly stated. “Cuomo talked for 12 minutes straight. He did Fetterman debate analysis with no clips illustrating his points. It was just him ranting.”

Newsmax, which is reportedly lagging far behind Fox News, MSNBC, and CNN in ratings, still pummeled Cuomo in viewership.

“Chris was going around screaming that Newsmax is beating him,” the source told the New York Post. “He’s a Cuomo. He doesn’t blame himself. His entire life he’s been told he’s special. No one is talking about his show. Chris has zero patience, This isn’t going to end well.”

Cuomo is pointing fingers at “On Balance with Leland Vitter” in the 7 pm slot which is bringing in a dismal 30,000 viewers a night. Typically, the viewership from a lead-in show tends to carry on through subsequent shows.

“Dan Abrams Live” brings in between 60,000-100,000 viewers in the 9 pm slot which is why Cuomo wants to swap with him. Executives have strong doubts that it would make any difference in the ratings.

A spokeswoman for NewsNation told the New York Post, “Your information is completely, totally, 100% inaccurate. But we are glad that The Post taken such an interest in NewsNation’s success.”

“We have talked to numerous people in our newsroom and on Chris’ staff and they are all very happy with the growth we’re seeing,” a NewsNation representative said in response to the claims.

Cuomo is earning $1 million a year for his show with NewsNation. When he was at CNN, he was paid $6 million a year. Not only did the massive cut in pay hit his ego hard, but the fact that he can’t seem to get people to watch him is also evidently driving Cuomo nuts.
