A horrific tragedy unfolded in Tomball, Texas when an unhinged mother slit the throat of her five-year-old little girl and then strangled her in the woods as the child screamed, “But I’ve been good!” because she was convinced the child was “evil.”

Little Nichole could not get away as her 37-year-old mother Melissa Towne brutally used a knife to slit her throat after she was told to get on her knees, according to the Daily Mail. When she didn’t die fast enough, her mother allegedly put a plastic bag over her head to suffocate her and then viciously strangled her for 30 to 45 minutes.
The mother showed up at a hospital on Sunday with the child in the passenger seat of the car. She was reportedly wrapped in a laundry mesh bag and had bruising around her neck and face.
When the little one was examined, it became apparent that her throat had been cut with a knife. They found a knife in her mother’s pocket that fit the bill.
Towne admitted to killing the child whom she contended was “evil.” Authorities weren’t able to find any signs of a crime scene at the park where the child was allegedly killed.

She declared that she “didn’t want to deal with her anymore,” and decided to kill Nichole in the woods. She reportedly said that the child had begged her in the end, claiming “But I’ve been good!” as her mother strangled her. Her mother told the child as she killed her to not “fight her.”
Court documents describe how Towne drove her daughter to a wooded park and then slit her throat. After killing little Nichole, she calmly drove her to the hospital, walked inside, asked for a wheelchair, and told nurses that her daughter was in the car and her body was “hurting.”
A nurse walked to the Jeep Cherokee and found the deceased child. Doctors pronounced Nichole dead minutes later.

The unstable mother did not have custody of the little girl and it is unknown why she had her on Sunday, according to KHOU. Towne has three other children between the ages of two and 18. They are all “safe and accounted for.”
“Child Protective Services is investigating this tragic death alongside law enforcement. The child’s mother, Melissa Towne, does have prior history with CPS, but specific details of CPS investigations are confidential according to law. Ms. Towne has three additional children ranging in age from 2 years old to 18 years old who are safe and have been living with other family members,” a spokesperson with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services said in a statement.
Melissa Towne’s bail was set at $15 million on Monday after she waived her right to face a judge. She is being charged with capital murder of a child under ten years old. Her rap sheet includes assault, trespassing, and vandalism.

The family of Nichole’s father, James Bradshaw, Jr., issued a statement to KHOU saying, “We are devastated and in complete shock over the loss of Nichole.”
“We ask for privacy and respect for Nichole’s father, James, and our family as we all figure out how to grieve her horrible loss and try to figure out how to go on from here. Nichole has grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a father that all loved her dearly and never thought such a tragic event would happen to such an innocent child,” the family stated.

“She will always hold a special place in all of our hearts. We will always remember her as the sweetest little girl who never met a stranger. She was so full of love and giggles and her bright blue eyes shined so full of curiosity,” the statement added. “We are hoping and praying justice will be served and the heartless monster who took our sweet girl away from us pay for the innocent life she took.”
“There is a GoFundMe account set up for anyone who would like to help with funeral costs for Nichole. No one ever expects something this devastating would happen to them. We greatly appreciate any and all donations for her services and ask you please lift our family up in your prayers as we cope with the horrible loss of our sweet Nichole,” the family concluded.
