Hunter Biden’s addictions and business dealings have been a problem for the president ever since he got into office. He has done his level best to sweep it under the rug but the situation is about to boil over and the CNN interview smacks of damage control. Prosecutors now reportedly believe that they have “sufficient evidence to charge him with tax crimes and a false statement related to a gun purchase.”

On the inaugural edition of “CNN Tonight” with Jake Tapper, Biden was his first guest. The host queried the president on a number of wide-ranging topics. The issue of Hunter Biden came up toward the end of the interview and Tapper asked for Biden’s reaction to it.

Instead of actually addressing the pending predicament that his son faces, Biden asserted that he’s proud of his son, and “confident” of him as well.

“Our reporting, CNN’s reporting, and the Washington Post’s reporting suggests that prosecutors think they could, they have enough to, charge your son Hunter for tax crimes and a false statement about a gun purchase,” Tapper stated, kicking off the segment. “Personally and politically, how do you react to that?”

“Well, first of all, I’m proud of my son. This is a kid who got, not a kid — he’s a grown man. He got hooked on — like many families have had happen, hooked on drugs. He’s overcome that. He’s established a new life,” Biden responded by not really answering the question at all.

“He is — I’m confident that he is — what he says and does are consistent with what happens. And for example, he wrote a book about his problems and was straightforward about it. I’m proud of him,” the president reiterated.

“He came along and said, by the way, this thing about a gun — I didn’t know anything about it. But turns out that when he made application to purchase a gun, what happened was he — I guess you get asked — I don’t guess, you get asked a question, are you on drugs, or do use drugs? He said no. And he wrote about saying no…” Biden continued rambling on.

“Right,” Tapper interjected.

“…in his book. So I have great confidence in my son. I love him and he’s on the straight and narrow, and he has been for a couple years now. And I’m just so proud of him,” the president concluded and got virtually no pushback from Tapper on the fact that he didn’t answer the question.

The media gave Biden a pass on the issue but that will not make Hunter Biden’s potential legal woes go away. The FBI, IRS, and federal prosecutors are all waiting to have a word with him and possibly convict him of potential crimes.

The issue overshadows the midterm elections and Biden’s potential run in 2024. One thing is certain, the Hunter Biden fiasco is not going away if conservatives have anything to say about it and the president will sooner or later have to actually address the matter.
