Scooby-Doo character ‘Velma’ officially a lesbian in new movie, smitten with female character

The iconic kid’s show “Scooby Doo” is yet another victim of leftist culture wars with “Velma” slated to come out as a lesbian in the upcoming Halloween movie “Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo!”

Velma is obviously smitten by Coco Diablo in clips that have gone viral on social media. As she sets her eyes on Coco, Velma’s face goes red, her glasses fog up, and she says “Jinkies!” That’s not the only scene making it abundantly clear that Velma has come out of the closet, according to TheBlaze.

Coco Diablo purrs in another scene at Velma, “The cute one’s right,” and then grabs her shoulder causing the bookish character to go all mushy.

Of course, teenage angst is brought in for relatability. Velma cries to Daphne, “OK, who am I kidding? I’m crushing big-time, Daphne. What do I do? What do I say?” To which the beautiful Daphne predictably replies, “Be yourself.”

The move is reminiscent of what was done to “The Archies” comic and others, especially in the Marvel series. Many parents will move to ban their children now from seeing Scooby Doo just as they have done with Disney flicks.

James Gunn of the 2002 “Scooby-Doo” movie and its sequel “Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed” has wanted since 2020 to out Velma as a lesbian but was allegedly blocked from doing so.

“I tried! In 2001 Velma was explicitly gay in my initial script. But the studio just kept watering it down & watering it down, becoming ambiguous (the version shot), then nothing (the released version) & finally having a boyfriend (the sequel),” Gunn wrote in a tweet in 2020 that appears to have been deleted.

Individuals involved with the show have indicated previously that Velma was seen as gay. In the new Halloween movie, all doubt is removed and many parents will be disturbed by the content. Probably enough to not allow their children to watch it.

Tony Cervone, who was a supervising producer with the television series “Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated” according to IMDb, also claimed that Velma was intended to be gay in the show.

“I’ve said this before, but Velma in Mystery Incorporated is not bi. She’s gay. We always planned on Velma acting a little off and out of character while she was dating Shaggy because that relationship was wrong for her and she had unspoken difficulty with the why. There are hints about the why in that episode with the mermaid, and if you follow the entire Marcie arc it seems as clear as we could make it 10 years ago. I don’t think Marcie and Velma had time to act on their feelings during the main timeline, but post reset, they are a couple. You can not like it, but this was our intention,” he stated on Instagram.
