Former President Donald Trump had a brief message for Ginni Thomas following reporting on her testimony to the Jan. 6 committee and his “congratulations” were accompanied by a few terse shots at Democrats and RINOs lacking similar “courage of…convictions.”
After agreeing to voluntarily testify before the sham committee in a closed door meeting Thursday, conservative activist Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, was dragged by the left for maintaining her opinion on the legitimacy of the 2020 presidential election. While trolls and corporate media maligned her and her husband by association, Trump used his platform to laud Thomas for not bowing to the progressive witch hunt determined to demonize those deemed guilty of “wrongthink.”
“Congratulations to Ginni Thomas for having the courage of her convictions,” Trump wrote on Truth Social Friday. “Most importantly, she is right.”
“The Election was Rigged and Stolen, and everyone knows it–especially the Radical Left Democrats who are destroying our Country,” he continued with a salvo against his detractors. “Cheating on Elections is the only thing they do really well, and that’s because Weak Republicans and RINOs allow them to get away with it. Fortunately, Ginni Thomas is not one of them and, by the way, her husband is Great!”
The praise from Trump came just one day after Thomas sat down for a lengthy interview with the Jan. 6 committee wherein she reaffirmed that neither she nor her husband’s work was a matter of discussion within their household, reportedly stating in part, “my husband has never spoken with me about pending cases at the Court. It’s an iron clad rule in our home.”
“Additionally, [Justice Thomas] is uninterested in politics. And I generally do not discuss with him my day-to-day work in politics, the topics I am working on, who I am calling, emailing, texting, or meeting,” she had said.
Still, the left could not get past the reporting from the committee itself over Thomas’ assertion of her opinion on the election. “Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson of Mississippi, who chairs the January 6 committee, [said] that Thomas answered ‘some questions’ in her interview with the panel and reiterated her belief that the 2020 presidential election was stolen,” it had been reported.

Adding further weight to Trump’s praise for Thomas was an op-ed published in The New York Times the day before her testimony that declared, “Ginni Thomas has become a problem.”
“You don’t have to be a left-wing, anti-Trump minion of the deep state to think it’s a bad look for American democracy to have the wife of a Supreme Court justice implicated in a multitentacled scheme to overturn a free and fair presidential election. But that is where this political moment finds us,” Times editorial board member Michelle Cottle wrote.
Notably absent from Cottle’s concern over Thomas visiting Trump at the White House and offering her take on who “she thought should be fired or hired” was any note of worry over Hunter Biden and business deals said to have been brokered thanks to access to then-Vice President Joe Biden.
No, instead, Cottle mentioned former President Jimmy Carter’s younger brother Billy, former President Richard Nixon’s Attorney General John Mitchell’s wife Martha, and, of course, Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump on a list of “embarrassing or controversial spouses and close kin of…top players.”
