There is widespread outrage after a video surfaced showing a little girl at a “family-friendly drag show” held at a Tennessee brewery rubbing the crotch of a performer dressed as Ariel, the Little Mermaid while onstage.

The child appears to pat the performer below the waist and then rub up and down in the groin area. This is the same event where performers spread their legs in front of children, according to the Daily Mail.
The “Pride Youth Day” drag show was held at the Wanderlinger Brewing Company which is now claiming they are the victims of a Republican smear campaign.
A spokesperson for Chattanooga Pride told NewsChannel 9 that the performer is a biological woman who has performed for children in the area a number of times. They also claimed that all of the Disney Princess impersonators who performed at the show were biological women.
Chattanooga Pride also asserts that the video was taken out of context and that it did not show the performer moving the little girl’s hands away from her. The performer also contends that she distanced herself from the child after the video ends.

“Her tail was made out of a reversible sequin fabric, which is why the younger child was touching it. What the video did not show was the performer redirecting the child by shifting to the side,” the spokesperson added.
Chatanooga Pride claims that the drag performer who spread her legs, showing underwear, was at an event where children were not allowed to attend. However, a child can be clearly seen right next to that performer.
Portraying themselves as victims, the spokesperson claims that the organization and the brewery have received death threats after the video went viral.
Conservative activist Robby Starbuck bluntly commented, “I think it’s clearly wrong. If you look at even some of the biggest drag queens in the world, they’re no stranger to admitting the fact that this is a very sexual, you know, sort of, we’ll call it an art form.”

Law Enforcement Today called the event, “Yet another disgusting display of child brainwashing and grooming of innocent children by the hands of sexualized drag queens.”
One mother unbelievably defended the event she took her three young children to, stating, “The princesses were not drag performers, those were cisgender women. Nobody is forcing that child to do anything. She’s like, three, she saw something that was shiny.”
This same mother watches RuPaul’s Drag Race with her little boy. She says he wanted to see a drag show in person.

A spokesman for the bar stated, “The families in attendance voiced no issues and supported the activities happening related to the event and have supported the promoter on social media defending their choice, their children, and Chattanooga Pride.”
The bar hosts everything from LGBTQ+ to church-related events and oddly doesn’t see any conflict here.
Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp was outwardly disgusted by the video.
“This isn’t hard. Parents shouldn’t take kids to drag shows and business owners shouldn’t host drag shows aimed at children. It’s a shame this is happening on Ironman weekend when the best of our area is on display. For those visiting: no, these aren’t our values,” he tweeted.

Ever the politician, he did try and walk back those comments somewhat, saying that he personally wouldn’t take his children to a drag show. He then declared that “any hate speech or threat of violence is despicable.”
Our office has been inundated from both sides regarding drag events targeting youth.
As a dad, I’m opposed to little girls being given dollar bills for a drag show. I wouldn’t take my kids in the first place.

The Chattanooga Pride Board wrote in a statement that they plan to add security to other events during their celebration but that they will go on as scheduled.
“The 2022 Chattanooga Pride Board stands firm against all forms of prejudice, bigotry, racism, homophobia, and transphobia. To the allies and supporters of our community: thank you. Thank you for standing by us. Your support does not go unnoticed,” they wrote.
