U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) may be trying to have it both ways when it comes to his witch hunt against former President Donald Trump and Republicans through the ongoing Jan. 6 investigation, but Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) wasn’t buying the Democratic Party narrative on Ray Epps, and Wednesday he put the entire committee on blast.
As part of the agenda of Wednesday’s House Judiciary Committee meeting, members were slated to consider a resolution pertaining to the release of any documents related to the infamous Epps who has seemingly received a free pass from the progressives and their corporate media allies for any involvement he may have had with the breach of the Capitol on Jan. 6.
During the meeting, Massie called into question why Raskin was covering for Epps and “defending one of the people who assaulted the Capitol,” and, on Saturday, he redoubled his effort to call out the left for playing dumb by sharing a post of his remarks, tagging the Jan. 6 committee’s social media and captioning it, “Tagging @January6thCmte since Rep Raskin who is on the Jan 6 committee seems to claim he doesn’t know who Ray Epps is, even while claiming time to speak against a resolution requesting DOJ release information about Ray Epps.”

The Kentucky lawmaker noted his and his colleagues’ caution against conservatives attending any protest at the Capitol on Jan. 6 as he challenged Raskin, “Myself and three members of this committee; Chip Roy, Tim Buck and Tom McClintock, issued in a statement urging people not to come here, to accept the results of the electors. And so today I don’t have an ideological axe to grind either. I find it odd that you all are defending one of the people who assaulted the Capitol.”
“Defending who?” Raskin asked.
“Ray Epps,” Massie stated bluntly.
“I literally have no idea what you’re talking about,” the Democrat tried before he was reminded that Epps was literally a topic of discussion for the day. “That’s the resolution.”

The resolution in question was introduced by Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) seeking the release by President Joe Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garland “copies of all documents, memoranda, advisory legal opinions, notes from meetings, audio recordings, records (including telephone and electronic mail records), correspondence, and other communications, or any portion of any such communications, to the extent that any such one or more items are within the possession of the President or the Attorney General, respectively, and refer to Ray Epps.”
While it would go on to be unfavorably reported to the House with a party-line vote of 22 to 13, the fact remained that Raskin attempted to have it both ways in his rant retort to Massie calling him out.
“So, we heard this absurd whining about Ray Epps, who has absolutely nothing to do with any of it,” he tried, along with, “We’ve done more than a thousand interviews. You guys are trying to make this poor schmuck who showed up to your protest into something a lot bigger than he is. Okay, he’s just trying to survive and he’s on your side.”
Both of those statements obviously point to familiarity with Epps and the supposed plight that he has faced according to a New York Times piece run in July. As reported, they wrote, “Ray Epps has suffered enormously in the past 10 months as right-wing media figures and Republican politicians have baselessly described him as a covert government agent who helped to instigate the attack on the Capitol last year.”

Of course, Raskin wasn’t long for contradictions as he appeared certain that Epps had done nothing wrong while equally certainty that he didn’t know who the suspected FBI plant was.
“You guys are doin’ it to this poor Ray Epps,” Raskin charged to Massie. “Leave that guy alone, whoever he is.”
In just one of the numerous videos showing Epps’ involvement on Jan. 6, one social media user managed to call out the Democratic politician and corporate media by showing the reporting on Brad Smith and Marshall Neefe who had been sentenced to 41 months in federal prison for their actions that day whereas Epps continues to walk free after doing much the same.
Here is a video of Ray Epps pushing a sign. Two days ago, 2 men got sentenced to 41 months in federal prison for participating in doing the same. Yet, Epps is fee and was able to play the victim in NYT interview.

Unlike Raskin’s certainty of two conflicting points, the clarity of the attempt to fabricate the narrative surrounding Jan. 6 in the best interest of the left has remained unclouded and Massie was celebrated for his effort to draw that into the light.
