Mike Lindell back in business with ‘new’ phone seen at Trump Ohio rally, says he’s suing US govt

The iconic businessman was spotted at former President Donald Trump’s Ohio rally this Saturday wielding a “new” cell phone.

When questioned about the phone, he said that it’s a “replacement” and that he intends to sue the Biden administration next week to get his original phone back.

“They did not return it and I am suing the USA government and the FBI on Tuesday September 20th,” he said to the Daily Mail, adding that the FBI had allegedly violated his First, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Amendment rights.

The spotting came days after the FBI pulled him over at a Hardee’s drive-thru in Mankato, Minnesota and proceeded to seize his phone and interrogate him.

“Mr. Lindell, both in interviews and on his online television show, said that the agents who took his phone had asked about his ties to Tina Peters, the clerk of Mesa County, Colo., who is facing a state indictment over an effort to obtain data from voting machines produced by Dominion Voting Systems,” The New York Times reported.

“The Dominion machines were central to conspiracy theories about the 2020 election, and Ms. Peters is accused of engineering a scheme that she believed would prove the devices had been used to steal the race from former President Donald J. Trump.”

It’s not clear how any of what Peters did is illegal …

“By seizing Mr. Lindell’s phone, federal investigators brought into the case one of the most prominent purveyors of pro-Trump disinformation about elections. The warrant used against him went even further, placing him on a list of what it described as several ‘co-conspirators,'” the Times report continued.

“Those people, according to a copy of the warrant, included not only Ms. Peters but also Douglas Frank, an influential activist who claims to have mathematical proof that the 2020 election was stolen, and Sherronna Bishop, a former campaign manager for Representative Lauren Boebert, Republican of Colorado.”

Again, it’s not clear how any of this — speculating that an election was illegitimate — is indicative of illegal behavior.

Indeed, as noted by Fox News host Tucker Carlson during a segment of Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight” last Wednesday, going by this standard, every Democrat in America deserves to have their phone seized.

“‘A foreign power got Donald Trump elected.’ Democrats said that and they continued to say it every single day of Donald Trump’s term. They impeached him over it. They hamstrung the executive branch of the U.S. government with an investigation into Russian influence that in the end turned up nothing. What would you call that? You would call that election denial. You’d call that the big lie,” Carlson said.

“But no one was punished for it. No judge removed Adam Schiff from office for doubting the election results. The FBI didn’t raid CNN’s biggest advertisers. Everyone just moved on. You may have hated the Russia hoax, and we certainly did, but there was never any question that all American citizens have an absolute, constitutionally protected right to question election outcomes.”

And this of course is why Lindell is suing. Speaking on Steve Bannon’s podcast last Thursday, he said bluntly that this madness “has to stop.”

“We’re not going to put up with this. We’re not going to be the Gestapo like Nazi Germany. We’re being pro-active. I was on the phone with these attorneys, I said no, I want to sue, what can we do? We got all the lawyers on the phone. They looked up all these statutes. We’re going to go to places where no man has gone before. This will set a precedent,” he said.

“This has to stop. Nobody gets to bash people’s door down and you get 40 seconds to answer your door. Nobody gets to corner and take the phone away of a private citizen — their company phone — and their hearing aids, everything else. Everything I had was in that phone of all these businesses — My Pillow, My Store, Frank Speech — passwords to able to do money wires that I can’t do right now. Those aren’t in any cloud. This has to stop, and we’re going to do it.”

This is not the first time Lindell’s phone has been in the news. Back in early January, he revealed that the Jan. 6th committee had subpoenaed his phone records.

“I wasn’t there on January 6th and yes they did subpoena my phone records but we filed a complaint for declaratory and injunctive relief against the January 6th committee and Verizon to completely invalidate this corrupt subpoena,” he said to CNBC in a written statement at the time.

He responded then the way he’s responding now — with a lawsuit.
