Bannon responds to criminal indictment from New York state prosecutors in move to ‘take him out’

Whether targeting former President Donald Trump through the FBI raid of Mar-a-Lago, allies such as former Mayor Rudy Giuliani via grand jury subpoena or even concerned parents at the direction of Attorney General Merrick Garland, the apparent weaponization of the justice system during President Joe Biden’s administration has been far-reaching.

Having already been charged with contempt of Congress and after previously being pardoned for allegedly defrauding donors, host of “War Room: Pandemic” and former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon is once again facing the “partisan politicization of the criminal justice system.”

Late Tuesday, The Washington Post reported that Bannon is expected to be facing a criminal indictment from New York state prosecutors in Manhattan related to accusations that he had used the fundraiser “We Build the Wall” for his own personal gain, supposedly taking $1 million of the $25 million raised to contribute to U.S.-Mexico border security for his own personal gain.

Ahead of Thursday when he is expected to present himself to the New York authorities regarding the sealed indictment, Bannon released a statement decrying the tactics and suggesting a concerted effort to influence the coming midterms invoking the names of soft-on-crime, progressive District Attorney Alvin Bragg and billionaire, dark money influencer George Soros.

“Just days after being swatted three different times by deranged thugs from New York City inspired by the Biden Administration to assassinate me by police, the Soros-backed DA has now decided to pursue phony charges against me 60 days before the midterm election because WarRoom is the major source of the MAGA grassroots movement,” his reaction began.

“The SDNY [Southern District of New York] did the exact same thing in August 2020 to try to take me out of the election. It didn’t work then, it certainly won’t work now,” Bannon continued. “This is nothing more than a partisan politicization of the criminal justice system.”

As Trump had departed the White House in 2021, Bannon had been included among the list of final pardons granted over those charges to which he had pleaded not guilty.

The Post laid out, “The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, which handles state-level prosecutions, has been evaluating Bannon’s alleged involvement in that scheme since shortly after Trump pardoned him…Presidential pardons only apply to federal charges and cannot prohibit state prosecutions.”

Fox News noted that two others involved in “We Build the Wall” had pleaded guilty in April and their sentencing had been scheduled for this week, but that had been postponed to December.

The charges come as Democrats led by Biden have ramped up the rhetoric against conservatives and MAGA Republicans as supposed threats to democracy. However, since the raid on Trump’s Florida home at the behest of the Justice Department, the right has coalesced around stopping the banana republic that the left seems hell-bent on turning the United States into, and the weaponization of government institutions has bolstered the conservative movement.

“I am proud to be a leading voice on protecting our borders and building a wall to keep our country safe from drugs and violent criminals. The WarRoom show will be more vital, more intense, more urgent, and bigger this time,” Bannon noted in his statement before concluding, “They are coming after all of us, not only President Trump and myself. I am never going to stop fighting. In fact, I have not yet begun to fight. They will have to kill me first.”
