MSNBC guest rages against ‘white wing’ and appointment of special master: ‘Trump judges don’t believe in rule of law’

Political commentator and attorney Elie Mystal railed on MSNBC against a decision by a federal judge to appoint a special master to review former President Trump’s documents seized by the FBI, calling her “corrupt.”

Mystal was incensed by the decision made on Labor Day by U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon and vented on “The ReidOut” over it. The judge was appointed by Trump in 2020 which the left is using as fodder to claim she is biased in the matter.

Cannon will appoint a special master to review “the seized property for personal items and documents and potentially privileged material subject to claims of attorney-client and/or executive privilege.”

Over 11,000 documents were seized in the raid, including 40 years’ worth of medical records and accounting records connected to Trump’s tax returns. Also seized were passports and personal items.

Mystal was asked by host Joy Reid how the judge could have ruled the way she did in the matter. He called Cannon a partisan judge.

“How on Earth could a judge who made it through law school think that Donald Trump can take the property of the government, the federal government, take it home and then have to have a special master decide whether they can investigate him?” an enraged Reid asked the leftist pundit.

“Because she’s biased and corrupt,” he angrily replied. “I’ve been saying this since he took office. When you allow Republicans to control the courts, you get nothing. Trump judges do not believe in the rule of law. They do not believe in precedent. They do not believe in facts. They do not believe in logic. They just believe in whatever’s going to help Donald Trump and they’ve proven it again and again and again. So when I say you cannot trust Trump judges I don’t know what more evidence you need for that fact.”

He asserted that Trump’s “stupid” claim of executive privilege does not apply, because only the current president can assert such privilege and you can only have one president at a time. The obvious reference was a dig at the 2020 presidential election that many contend was riddled with fraud.

“Privilege goes to the current president,” Mystal unilaterally declared. “We only have one president at a time. So it’s not Trump’s privilege to have. But even if it was, as you point out, with Bill Barr who believes that the executive of the United States is something closer to a king than a president, even Bill Barr says that if he had a privilege, that privilege still goes with the government and not with Trump.”

He went on to outrageously assert that the former president’s executive privilege claim is the equivalent of taking Air Force One with him to Mar-a-Lago after leaving office.

Mystel claims that all of this is about delaying an investigation into Trump. He charges that Cannon could drag her feet on the matter and the 11th Circuit Court, as well as the Supreme Court, are “infected” with Trump judges. However, Mystal does not address Trump’s right to executive privilege as well as constitutional protections under the law.

The only end result Mystal, Reid, and other rabid partisans on the left would be satisfied with is an indictment and conviction of Trump. His rights and the judge’s acknowledgment of the law apparently do not factor into their desired redress of the issue.
