Another liberal mayor rants about migrants after new busload arrives from Texas

Whether they choose to admit it or not, the continued lament from progressive leaders like Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) over Gov. Greg Abbott (R) busing a dose of reality in the form of illegal border crossers to her city is proving his point.

But that hasn’t stopped her from deflecting from the root cause of the problem as she accused the governor of “manufacturing a human crisis.”

Throughout President Joe Biden’s tenure in the White House, and under the assigned watch of Vice President Kamala Harris, the crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border has only worsened. Since April, Abbott has endeavored to cast a new light on this growing problem by sending willing migrants to so-called sanctuary cities and their hypocrisies couldn’t be more blatant.

On Sunday, after only 50 illegals had been bused into Chicago, following the 79 transported earlier in the week, Lightfoot slammed Abbott again while seeking aid from the public to provide financial support for the paltry number of voluntary travelers.

“We are a welcoming city,” she claimed during a press conference. “We are always going to step up and do the right thing to make sure that migrants coming into our city are well received, that they’re supported.”

“My frustration comes from the actions of the governor of Texas. There could be a level of coordination and cooperation, but he chooses to do none of those things and instead tries to send human beings, not cargo, not freight, but human beings across the country to an uncertain destination,” the mayor went on adding, “That’s unacceptable.”

“He is manufacturing a human crisis and it makes no sense to me,” Lightfoot expressed.

Abbott has already bused more than 7,400 illegals to Washington, D.C. and over 1,500 to New York City as he has only just begun including Chicago as a point of destination at a cost of nearly $13 million, according to the Texas Tribune.

Renae Eze, the governor’s press secretary stated, “President Biden’s reckless open border policies have created an ongoing crisis. Until President Biden and Congress do their jobs and secure our southern border, Texas will continue utilizing every strategy to address this border crisis and protect Texans.”

Lightfoot’s inability to grasp the choices being made by Abbott as his state sees thousands of illegal entries every day exacerbated by the White House and the progressive policies that she shares should come as no surprise since, while her focus was drawn to an attempt at scoring political points, the soft-on-crime leadership in her city saw another bloody weekend with dozens shot, many fatally.

Chicago Alderman Raymond Lopez (D) drew attention to this with a tweet following the mayor’s request for donations to aid the immigrants, writing, “And the victims of Chicago gang violence get [crickets]” as others pointed out how violent Labor Day weekend had been by only Sunday afternoon.

Despite those realities, she attempted to play at being a beneficent leader noting during the press conference, “We have people coming as families, young children with their first taste of democracy and freedom in many instances and we need to make sure that the memory that they have of Chicago and of the United States is favorable. Regardless of where their life journey takes them, I want them to feel like in this moment that they came to this city, and we wrapped our arms around them, loved them and supported them.”
