Fox News host Tucker Carlson basically told Republican candidates on Friday to not follow in the footsteps of Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and instead mock him and disavow his stances or they risk losing elections.
Carlson is no fan of Graham’s and has criticized him for being an out-of-touch warmonger who is a detriment to the Republican Party.
The proof is in the pudding when it comes to messages being pushed by Republican candidates. Carlson discussed in his “Tucker Carlson Tonight” segment a list of recent special election results in swing districts that should have all gone “red” this year but didn’t. The current sitting president’s party historically underperforms in House races in midterm elections. Combine that with President Biden’s abysmal approval rating and it should be a no-brainer that the Republicans would win back the House in November.
“In a special election last week in New York’s 19th congressional district, Democrat Pat Ryan beat Republican Marc Molinaro,” he noted. “Now, in a red wave year, you would’ve thought the opposite would happen. And this was a very tight district. This district went to Joe Biden by a point and a half in the last election.”

Carlson went on to point to other races where Democrats outperformed Biden’s numbers in their districts.
“There’s evidence that the Republican Party may be at fault by alienating its own voters and not getting them to the polls,” he contended.
Carlson made an example of Molinaro, who is a county executive in upstate New York. He ordered a county office building to be lit up with Ukraine’s colors to express solidarity as Russia invaded the country.
“They’re Ukraine’s colors,” he stated. “Right, as if his voters care. That’s the message that Molinaro, as executive director of Dutchess County, New York sent to voters.”
The conservative host went on to call it a joke.
“This same candidate also sent fundraising e-mails to voters in upstate New York calling for more aggression against Russia,” Carlson reported. “‘Biden is weak on Putin!’ Molinaro wrote. Right. So does sounding like Lindsey Graham actually work?”
@TuckerCarlson is doing a brilliant job right now telling Republicans if they don't stop with the rino "we stand with Ukraine" Lindsey Graham garbage, the GOP will go down on November 8th the way Ukraine loving softie Mark Molinaro went down in New York state in recent days

Neocon Lindsey Graham is part of the problem, not the solution. #Tucker

He then played a clip of Graham in March calling for the U.S. to send military aid to Ukraine to assist in its fight against the Russian invasion.
“Ok, so just to be clear to Republican candidates,” Carlson lectured, “that was Lindsey Graham. Your job is to make fun of Lindsey Graham and to disavow Lindsey Graham. Your job is not to emulate Lindsey Graham and steal his talking points. And if you do emulate Lindsey Graham and steal his talking points, you will lose. And the losing candidates did just that.”
Carlson advised that Americans may care about Ukraine but they care more about the United States and issues such as the border and crime.
He quoted Republican congressional candidate Joe Kent in Washington, “If any of these representatives feel so passionately about how we have to go and save the Ukrainians and provide enough lethal aid and continue to push this escalation, they need to go back to their districts and tell the American people, tell their constituents what they’re asking them to do and what the ramifications potentially could be. Why do foreign nations always come first? Why do we secure their borders and not our own?”

“Well, exactly. It’s nothing against the Ukrainians. Again, everyone feels sorry for the Ukrainians, but Americans have a right to feel sad about what’s happening in their country and to expect their politicians to work on fixing it,” Carlson told viewers.
“So, if more Republicans in November say what you just heard Joe Kent say, they will win if they talk about the issues that people actually care about in this country, issues that are relevant to their lives, they will win. That’s how they won those school board seats in Florida. They weren’t talking about Ukraine. They were talking about the issues that matter to the voters in Florida: family safety, happiness, the right of parents to decide what their kids learn in school. That message wins. Obviously, that’s why Glenn Youngkin became governor of Virginia,” Carlson explained.
And he had some sage parting advice for Republican candidates: “Look at the elections taking place already this year, and that’s the clearest possible sign to the people who run the Republican Party to stop talking about Ukraine, stop taking people’s guns away. Start talking about things that they care about: the economy, education, family safety, justice, following the law, our border. Those are the things that matter, and if you don’t acknowledge that, you’re going to lose.”
