White House correspondent abruptly announces it’s his ‘last day’ at CNN as calls for boycott grow

As leftists gin up the call for a boycott against CNN because they contend it has hilariously turned into a right-wing propaganda network, another veteran White House correspondent named John Harwood has reportedly quit the network.

Harwood made the announcement of his unexpected departure on Friday. He is the latest high-profile personality to leave CNN, which seems to be imploding. CNN Chairman and CEO Chris Licht is aggressively cleaning house at the network.

The only hint that Harwood, 65, was on his way out was a “personal news” tweet announcing “today’s my last day at CNN.”

He is a former editor-at-large for CNBC who has previously been a reporter for the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.

“Personal news: today’s my last day at CNN proud of the work thanks to my colleagues I’ve been lucky to serve the best in American media – St. Petersburg Times, WSJ, NYT, the NBC family, CNN look forward to figuring out what’s next,” he tweeted.

Harwood is following media reporter Brian Stelter out the door after he had the plug pulled on his long-running show “Reliable Sources.” The departure also follows fellow CNN denizens, Jeffrey Toobin and Chris Cuomo. Others are rumored to be on the chopping block.

Licht has wreaked havoc at CNN for the last few months since he’s been in charge. He has been given free rein by corporate big wigs at Warner Bros. Discovery to steer the cable network away from opinionated-based programming and toward hard, factual news instead.

Harwood is a liberal and is no fan of former President Trump. In fact, he’s a staunch critic of him and earlier this year called him “mentally unwell.”

He also recently raged over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis calling retiring Dr. Anthony Fauci a “little elf” during a press conference.

“No better example of the Republican Party’s degradation than its demagogic attacks on a brilliant public servant who has spent decades working to fight ignorance and save lives with medical science,” Harwood proclaimed.

He also fully supported the president’s speech Thursday night, “Biden’s assertion that Trump and extremist Republicans pose a threat to American democracy is, undeniably, true.”

Harwood won’t be the last to go. Following Stelter exiting stage left, the Daily Beast reported that Licht also intended to “blow up” CNN’s “New Day” morning show. The show is currently anchored by John Berman and Brianna Keilar.

Keilar stirred a hornet’s nest on the left Thursday night when she criticized President Biden for his Philadelphia speech attacking Republicans against a blood-red background with Marines behind him.

“Whatever you think of this speech the military is supposed to be apolitical,” Keilar noted on Twitter. “Positioning Marines in uniform behind President Biden for a political speech flies in the face of that. It’s wrong when Democrats do it. It’s wrong when Republicans do it.”

Jeff Zeleny, who is CNN’s chief national affairs correspondent, echoed her words further stoking the boycott fire against CNN on Twitter.

“There’s nothing unusual or wrong with a president delivering a political speech — it’s inherent in the job description — but doing it against a backdrop of two Marines standing at attention and the Marine Band is a break with White House traditions,” Zeleny remarked.

Cue the leftist boycott minions.

“Brianna Keilar has sold her soul,” one user commented.

“You are clearly a shill for the RNC. If this is the new @CNN direction, count me out. Your sheets are showing,” one person tweeted.

“You know CNNs transformation into Baby Fox News is officially complete when Brianna Keilar goes MAGAt,” one “vote blue” supporter posited.

“Uncovering The Truth” podcaster Dash Dobrofsky told his followers, “CNN’s Brianna Keilar just attacked Biden for having Marines positioned behind him during his speech. She said the military shouldn’t be ‘politicized.’ They’re not. The military stands against Fascism and they support the President. CNN stands against Biden and supports Fascism.”
