Gov Newsom’s in-laws fled Cali’s draconian lockdowns for Florida’s freedom during the pandemic

California Governor Gavin Newsom has been inadvertently embarrassed by records that show his in-laws fled his draconian lockdowns for the freer pastures of the Sunshine State.

Kenneth F. Siebel Jr. and Judith A. Siebel, Newsom’s wife’s parents, who have lived in California for a long time, became residents in Florida in 2020 during the pandemic. They bought a $3.3 million Naples home in March of 2021 according to records, and apparently still own their home in a northern San Francisco suburb.

They became registered voters in Florida as of June 2020, choosing the leadership of DeSantis over their son-in-law’s thuggish mandates. Kenneth Siebel is registered as a Republican, while his wife has no party affiliation according to Fox News.

All of this happened as Newsom enacted some of the nation’s most restrictive and oppressive COVID lockdowns. DeSantis on the other hand chose personal choice and freedom in his red state.

Adding insult to injury, the Siebel family trust made a $5,000 contribution to Friends of Ron DeSantis earlier this year, supporting a man that Newsom purportedly loathes.

Newsom was mocked over the development.

“Gavin Newsom’s father-in-law donated to Ron DeSantis,” conservative podcaster Liz Wheeler tweeted. “That is objectively hilarious.”

“I’m sure he’s humiliated because of how aggressive he’s come out against Ron DeSantis,” conservative radio personality Clay Travis said on Fox News Wednesday. “There’s a possibility guys, that this could be a presidential election in 2024 or 2028. These guys don’t like each other. And they have such diametrically opposed perspectives when it comes to COVID.

“Ron DeSantis got everything right on the data,” he noted, “and I think [that] deep in his heart, Gavin Newsom knows that, and he’s so bothered by it that he can’t stop talking about [DeSantis].”

Kenneth Siebel is a very successful investment manager. He’s also a longtime GOP donor, according to Federal Election Commission filings. He has given to a number of Republicans such as Sens. Josh Hawley, Tom Cotton, and Ron Johnson.

Both DeSantis and Newsom are potential presidential candidates.

DeSantis is friends with former President Trump and is far more likely to be his running mate than the nominee at this point. Democrats fear the Florida conservative deep down in their bones and have been attempting unsuccessfully to smear him for a long, long time.

Newsom was recently caught basically measuring the drapes at the White House while Biden was out of the country. Leftists love him and somehow believe he is presidential material. He is seen by many as the leading contender for the Democratic nomination in 2024.

In July, Newsom aired an attack ad against DeSantis in Florida claiming that “freedom is under attack,” urging them to move to California “where we still believe in freedom.” He frequently calls the Florida governor a bully.

It flopped and was roundly mocked and laughed at.

A spokesperson for DeSantis’ campaign Dave Abrams told The Daily Wire, “Gavin Newsom might as well light a pile of cash on fire. Pass the popcorn for his desperate attempt to win back the California refugees who fled the hellhole he created in his state to come to Florida.”

DeSantis clapped back concerning Newsom’s “terrible governance” and openly mocked how he now sees “a lot” of California license plates in Florida, adding “if you go to California, you ain’t seeing very many Florida license plates.”

Newsom pledged $100,000 to former Republican turned Democrat Rep. Charlie Crist to help him defeat DeSantis in the Florida governor race as the feud between the two governors escalates.
