A New Mexico man was arrested on Friday for reportedly having a hand in creating an ISIS training center just a hop, skip, and jump away from the wide-open southern United States border where illegals pour through by the thousands every day.
Herman Leyvoune Wilson, aka Bilal Mu’Min Abdullah was locked up for “allegedly attempting to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization, the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham, and attempting to obstruct, influence and impede at leader one official proceeding,” a Department of Justice (DOJ) press release read.
Court records indicate that the 45-year-old suspected terrorist was apparently trying to open an “Islamic State Center” in order to indoctrinate others with ISIS ideology from Jan 2020 to Nov. 2021.
The Albuquerque man also planned for the radical Islamic center to “provide training in tactical maneuvers and martial arts, and serve as a safe haven for individuals preparing to travel and fight on behalf of ISIS in the United States and abroad.”

Wilson’s colorful court documents also indicate that he may have taken his recruitment to an online platform from May 2019 to Sept. 2020 where he recruited others to join the terrorist center and talk about terrorist attacks in America and abroad.
Two people who were arrested in Sept. 2020 have already pled guilty to providing material support to ISIS. Kristopher Matthews and Jaylin Molina both admitted that they were heavily influenced by Wilson and without his radicalization, would not have participated in the crimes.
The DOJ reported that Wilson may have “instructed online platform members to destroy evidence of their use of the group” after Matthews and Molina’s arrest.”
Matthews and Molina received a 20-year and 18-year sentence, respectively, in July 2022 and their conviction will likely be used as evidence in Wilson’s case.
Wilson is currently in custody pending his arraignment scheduled for Aug. 30. He could serve a maximum of 20 years for each count if he is ultimately convicted.

It’s been long known that Islamic terrorists have been operating in conjunction with Mexican drug cartels on the Mexican side of the border.
A 2015 report noted that an ISIS camp located close to the New Mexico border near Ciudad Juárez was specifically identified by the terrorist group because it would be an easy area to operate in.
“These specific areas were targeted for exploitation by ISIS because of their understaffed municipal and county police forces, and the relative safe-havens the areas provide for the unchecked large-scale drug smuggling that was already ongoing,” the report read.
