Gabbard shreds DOJ for Trump raid she fears ‘has set our country on a dangerous new course’

With the blessing of Attorney General Merrick Garland, the Department of Justice committed what many believe to be just the latest in a long line of usurpations against constitutionally protected liberties and, as such, former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) suggested the nation was “on a dangerous new course” from which there was “no turning back.”

On Friday, the onetime lawmaker filled in as host on Fox News’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight” where she discussed the FBI raid of former President Donald Trump’s residence at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, and how it further exposed the politicization of institutions by “the uni-party” pulling the strings in Washington, D.C.

As she explained, “Now, whatever your views are on Donald Trump, there is no denying that the unprecedented raid on his Palm Beach home earlier this week has set our country on a dangerous new course, and there’s no turning back. The FBI’s raid on Mar-a-Lago changed the country that we grew up in.”

“We grew up believing that, ‘Hey our government will apply the law equally to all Americans, whether you’re a Republican or a Democrat.’ We’re seeing more and more that, that country no longer exists,” she went on.

“Law enforcement at the highest levels of government, whether it’s the DOJ, the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, and now even the IRS have been weaponized to target the political opponents of the uni-party, the permanent Washington and the Biden regime,” Gabbard explained.

Previously, the former congresswoman had laid out how President Joe Biden’s administration and the “elite have shamelessly weaponized law enforcement into a political hit squad” as she reacted to the news that former White House chief Strategist Steve Bannon had been found guilty of contempt of Congress when former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and former Director of the CIA John Brennan had never even been charged for allegedly lying to Congress.

She had also gone on record previously stating that “We need to stay within the bounds of the Constitution and the rule of law. I think the thing that I frankly have heard from some Democrats is an even more dangerous thing…which is they feel like they need to do whatever they need to do in order to save America. And that is a dangerous mindset to have.”

“You look throughout history, just about every single dictator who does whatever they feel they need to do, they feel like their cause is just, and so when we have people in positions of power — yes, in government, but in other sectors of society as well,” Gabbard laid out, “who feel like they need to do all they can to save the country, to save the people, and yet they are defying our Constitution and undermining our democracy and ruining our country in the process. This is what we need to protect ourselves and our country and our future from.”

That thread was picked up again Friday as she continued, stating, “Attorney General Merrick Garland has already issued a stark warning to anyone who dares to disagree with these tactics that are all hallmarks of a dictatorship.”

“Let me address recent unfounded attacks on the professionalism of the FBI and Justice Department agents and prosecutors,” Garland said at a press conference where he explained how he personally approved the raid at Mar-a-Lago. “I will not stand by silently when their integrity is unfairly attacked.”

Garland’s failure to take any questions from the press only further solidified Gabbard’s next point, “So, you are not allowed to disagree with the FBI. That is the new message. The security state will label you an extremist for daring to challenge or disagree with the regime’s weaponization of law enforcement.”

The former lawmaker was not alone in her conclusion on the AG’s overreach that had included the labeling of concerned parents at school board meetings as potential domestic terrorists for voicing disfavor toward divisive and inappropriate curricula. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) was joined by Reps. Clay Higgins (R-LA), Andy Harris (R-MD) and Mary Miller (R-IL) in filing articles of impeachment against Garland Friday for alleged failure to uphold his oath of office and weaponizing the Justice Department.

“Attorney General Garland has failed to uphold his oath and has instead overseen a denigration of the principles of our democratic republic by politicizing the Department of Justice, and utilizing the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Federal police force to punish or intimidate anyone who questions or opposes the current regime,” the articles of impeachment read.

Furthermore, it stated, “in persecuting former President Donald J. Trump over documents he legally de-classified,” Garland “has engaged in a pattern of conduct that is incompatible with his duties as a civil officer of the United States. Attorney General Garland, in his failure to uphold the oath he took, has, by his actions, lost the trust of citizens of the United States to faithfully execute the laws of the United States without partisan bias.”
