Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) is warning President Biden and the DOJ that they are “playing with fire” by sending the FBI to raid former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence, comparing it to Daniel Ortega’s despotic regime in Nicaragua.
Rubio addressed the divisive politics and anger consuming our nation and noted it has always existed in the US to varying degrees.
But, he said, “We’ve never been a country where people who take power – like becoming president – now use that power to persecute their past or future political opponents.”
“We’ve never seen that – until tonight, when the Justice Department under Joe Biden decided to raid, using 30 FBI agents, the Mar-a-Lago home of the former president, who might in fact be running against him in a couple of years,” Rubio stated via a video on Twitter.

“This is what happens in places like Nicaragua, where last year every single person that ran against Daniel Ortega for president, every single person that put their name on the ballot, was arrested and is still in jail,” he asserted.
“That’s what you see in places like Nicaragua; we’ve never seen that before in America,” Rubio continued. “You can try to diminish it, but that’s exactly what happened tonight.”
He also noted that although there have been disputes over documents and the National Archives before spanning a number of administrations, Monday night’s raid was conducted “for one purpose, and that is to try to politically harm and intimidate their political opponents.”

“They’re playing with fire,” Rubio warned. “Go cheer about it or be giddy about it on MSNBC, on CNN, with all these idiot commentators, but I’m telling you you’re playing with fire. This is dangerous, because someone else will be in power one day, and now you have created the precedent for them to do this back to you.”
“And then we become the Third World,” he predicted. “And then we lose our country and our system of government, and the meaning of being one nation under a real Constitution.”
“This needs to stop and the people responsible for this decision, Merrick Garland and the director of the FBI, need to be held to account for going along with something so undemocratic, unconstitutional, and flat-out destructive and dangerous to all of our republic,” Rubio concluded.
The FBI isn’t doing anything about the groups vandalizing Catholic Churches, firebombing Pro-Life groups or threatening Supreme Court justices

Trump has already released a statement concerning the “large group” of 30 or so FBI agents who raided his Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach. He called the incident “political persecution.”
“After working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate,” he charged, asserting that radical Democrats “desperately don’t want me to run for President in 2024, especially based on recent polls.”
Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) vowed in a statement that if Republicans win the House in the midterm elections they will investigate the DOJ, which he bluntly surmised had “reached an intolerable state of weaponized politicization.”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis blasted the raid, tweeting, “The raid of MAL is another escalation in the weaponization of federal agencies against the Regime’s political opponents, while people like Hunter Biden get treated with kid gloves. Now the Regime is getting another 87k IRS agents to wield against its adversaries? Banana Republic.”

Former Secretary of State and CIA Director Mike Pompeo called it “dangerous” to execute a warrant against a former president.
