Mother of man who shot McDonald’s employee over cold fries reveals details, son’s chilling words

A Brooklyn mother recounted her son brutally shooting a McDonald’s employee in the neck after an argument over cold french fries and then telling her he did what he had to do.

The altercation took place on Monday night. Lisa Fulmore, 40, told the New York Post in an interview about her 20-year-old son’s bone-chilling comments following the shooting of a 23-year-old employee who is now clinging to life in critical condition.

“I talked to my son with the cops. My son is just saying that he gotta do what he gotta do and the [victim] came after him and whatever happened, happened,” she stated.

The mother of three boys explained to the media outlet that she had ordered McDonald’s on her mobile app and then went to the Bedford-Stuyvesant restaurant at about 7 p.m. to pick up her food.

“The fries were cold,” Fulmore noted. “I asked the girl to change the french fries because the fries was cold. She went to the french fry machine for maybe 10 seconds and brought back fries, so I thought they was new fries, so I had left.”

“So I taste the fries, and after I got to the third one, it was a cold fry still. So I went back to take the food back,” she explained.

“I asked her, ‘Why would you give me the same fries and just put one or two on top to make me think that you gave me new fries?’ She started laughing, and all of them started laughing, acting like it’s funny,” Fulmore angrily said. “I was like, ‘What’s funny? I paid for food, and I should get what I asked for.’ They laughed at me.”

“One of them was like, ‘All of this over fries?’ So now I’m arguing with them back and forth. The boy where they cook the food at was like, ‘You got all this food in your teeth,'” she said in reference to the employee that her son later shot.

“So I said, ‘You wanna take it out? You’re saying I got all this food in my teeth, you wanna take it out?'” Fulmore angrily challenged the server.

At that point, the woman asked to speak to the manager and was told “the manager stepped out.”

“Everybody started laughing again,” she recalled.

“This is when I was on the phone with my son. I was like, ‘They in this McDonald’s playing with me.’ I was like, I got kids their age, I’m not going to sit here and keep arguing with these little kids,” Fulmore asserted.

“He was like, ‘I’m coming down the block,'” the mother stated. “I was like, ‘Alright.’ … Then I told him, ‘No, don’t come to McDonald’s because I don’t want you to get in trouble,'” she said not realizing that her son was already there.

According to Pix11, he was allegedly carrying a gun in the waistband of his pants. After entering the establishment, he then reportedly went behind the restaurant’s counter, smashed property, got into a shoving match with at least one employee, and refused to leave, sources told the media outlet.

“He was like, ‘I’m coming in.’ So he came in. He heard them saying stuff to me, so he was like, ‘You all gotta back off my mother,” the mother went on to state. “My son said ‘come outside’ to the boy in the back.”

The employee did not comply and Fulmore asked her son to leave “because I didn’t want him to get in trouble.”

“So I’m thinking my son was gone,” she told the New York Post. “I’m thinking it was over because my son left the store.”

Ten to fifteen minutes later, the employee approached Fulmore and asked her, “Where your son at?”

Fulmore told him that her son had left and to mind his own business.

Instead, “he went looking for my son,” she commented. “The next thing you know, maybe like 10 minutes later, you hear a gunshot. So I ran to the door. I said, ‘Who’s shooting?'”

Someone told the distraught mother it was her son.

“I looked, and I seen a boy on the ground, and then I saw my son running the other way. I called 911, and then I sat there and waited,” Fulmore remarked.

Pix11 tells a different version of that story.

The media outlet is reporting that the employee involved in the initial dispute over the cold fries left the restaurant, encountered the mother outside, and got into another argument with her over her son’s conduct inside the fast food restaurant.

At that point, the woman’s son left the McDonald’s, saw the employee arguing with his mother, and allegedly got into a fistfight with him across the street from the restaurant. The customer’s son purportedly pulled out a gun and opened fire, according to sources.

The police asked the mother if her son had a gun and she told them she didn’t know. She also said that “I don’t even know if my son did that.”

“The only thing I know is that my son was arguing with the boy and the boy did go out looking for my son,” Fulmore told the officers.

She also told them that the employee who was shot at one point changed his shirt “and he had something under the blue shirt, that’s why he put the big blue shirt on.”

Police reported that the victim had no prior arrests and did not have a weapon on him.

Fulmore claimed, “There was no reason for him to go outside looking for somebody. Whatever happened outside, you caused that to happen.”

The woman’s son has been arrested but has not been charged with the shooting yet. He has been busted a number of times on various charges such as grand larceny, assault, and theft of service. He also has numerous sealed arrest cases that presumably happened when he was a minor.
