Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R-Fl.) promised his supporters that he’s “only begun to fight for the upcoming midterm elections but urged conservatives to put on “the full armor of God,” in preparation for the battle.
At the Sunshine Summit’s Victory Dinner on Saturday night, DeSantis cautioned that the left, to include the media, is looking to “muddy the waters” and “create a blizzard of lies to blind all of us from what’s actually going on,” according to The Daily Wire.
“In times like these, it’s not enough to just be right on the issues,” the 43-year-old governor said, referring to the issues like Critical Race Theory, inflation, the Covid pandemic and feelings about gender that DeSantis has fought with moral conservativism but political elitists have used to smother freedom in other states.
“Because in times like these, there’s no substitute for courage. You got to have the courage of your convictions to be willing to stand up against the media. You got to have the courage to stand up against things like cancel culture. You got to have the courage to stand up to the woke mob,” he told the sold out audience. “You got to have the courage to stand in the way of the Brandon administration.”

DeSantis had a bright outlook for the future of Floridians and vowed to continue to stand up and fight against the liberal tsunami of anti-liberty ideas in order to keep Florida a free state.
“We are just getting warmed up,” DeSantis promised amid cheers from the audience. “I have only begun to fight. I’m standing my ground, walking the line all the way to the finish line, and I can tell you this: with your help, and everybody behind us, there is no doubt in my mind that come November, we are going to keep the state of Florida free.”

“Democrats opposed everything I did to protect your freedom,” DeSantis said, according to the Florida GOP. “If they had their way this state would be Faucian dystopia.”

The governor reminded the crowd that the left’s rhetoric has red-pilled increasing numbers of people who will vote Republican in future elections because they’ve seen firsthand how bad leftist policies are in practice.
“Even people that are not Republicans, and even people that have been voting for Democrats … they see, in their own life, the effect of Biden’s policies. And so they are dissatisfied. And so we have an opportunity to build a massive coalition here in the state of Florida, and I think it’s there for the taking,” DeSantis said.
“But you got to be ready for battle,” the Sunshine State governor cautioned. “So put on the full armor of God.”

The Republican summit was invite-only and liberal journalists were given the cold shoulder.
“I’m not going to have a bunch of left-wing media asking our primary candidates a bunch of gotcha questions,” DeSantis said, according to journalist Brendon Leslie.
In a Friday tweet, DeSantis spokeswoman Christina Pushaw responded to the liberal media activist that were upset by the decision to close the event.
“It has come to my attention that some liberal media activists are made because they aren’t allowed into #SunshineSummit this weekend,” she wrote. “My message to them is to try crying about it. Then go to kickboxing and have a margarita. And write the same hit piece you were gonna write anyway.”

DeSantis’ campaign spokesman Dave Abrams described the hypocrisy of the left-wing media who sulked about being left out of the event.
“It’s funny that the very reporters who were uninterested in the Sunshine Summit were the same ones huddled in a corner across from the entrance hoping for a peek,” Abrams said.
“We aren’t bothered by their tantrums — in fact it validates our presumption that fair coverage was never a thought for them,” he said.
