NYC mayor admits soft-on-crime progressive prosecutors are responsible for rising crime

Democrat mayor of New York City Eric Adams admitted that the soft-on-crime approach of the progressive left that treats criminals like the victim was to blame for the out-of-control crime plaguing big cities and asserted that the leftists were just as culpable as the “far-right.”

“There is a narrative from the right that liberal, that progressive prosecutors are allowing crime to flourish. Do you agree?” NBC host Lester Holt asked Adams in an interview that aired on Thursday.

“Yes,” Adams answered succinctly.

But the former police officer – who ran on a platform of cleaning up crime – blamed the drastically different approaches of the radical left and right as the true culprits of the increase in crime.

“There are two battles that are happening in our country, in our city right now,” the 110th mayor of the Big Apple said. “You have the far right that states, ‘give everyone a gun. No matter what.’ You have that far left that states, ‘everyone that uses a gun should not be held accountable.’ These two groups are not the majority of Americans, and they have actually held our country and our city hostage.”

Adams made his comments the same week that his own aide was shoved to the ground and mugged at gunpoint as “he was heading to pick up his city car.” In fact, statistics published in May show that robbery, burglary and grand larceny are up more than 25 to 40 percent over the numbers from the same time last year.

But, in the same interview, Adams told Holt that he believes New York is not a dangerous or unsafe city.

Never mind that he feels unsafe riding the city’s own subway system and ignore the fact that a woman was shot to death on the Upper East Side of Manhattan while pushing her baby in a stroller near a playground.  Yup, totally safe, Adams claimed.

Apparently, it just doesn’t “feel” safe.

When asked about the “couple dozen” shootings over the Fourth of July weekend he said, “it’s not a feeling of safety.”

“Here’s the real problem,” Adams argued. “We arrest John on Monday for grand larceny. He’s out on Tuesday, and he’s on it again on Wednesday.”

Last month, a self-proclaimed “professional” shoplifter in New York City got busted for the 100th time – and was then released without bail. She reportedly bragged about her life of crime while on a Target binder in February and stated, “I haven’t got caught in a long time.”
