Mayor Lori Lightfoot of lawless Chicago, a far-left Democrat who is very fond of dropping F-bombs on those with whom she disagrees politically, is now lamenting “toxicity” in public discourse.
In response, Alderman Raymond Lopez, a sane Democrat who is likely to run against the soft-on-crime Lightfoot next year, described the “failed” mayor as “the epicenter of toxic politics.”
At an event on Tuesday in which she apparently lamented police officers in her city being assaulted, Lightfoot said, in part, that “people are losing respect for the institutions of our democracy…the toxicity in our public discourse is a thing that I think we should all be concerned about, right?”
In the aftermath of the U.S. Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade, however, she did not hesitate to disrespectfully shout “F— Clarence Thomas” to a crowd of concert-goers.

“Does she not see how ridiculous the hypocrisy there sounds?,” Todd Piro, a “Fox & Friends First” co-host asked Lopez on Wednesday morning.
“Not only did she say F-U to Clarence Thomas, but she said F-U to a sitting president,” Lopez asserted about the mayor who seems more concerned about social justice pandering than criminal justice.
“Now whether you agreed with President Trump or not at the time or not — you talk about civility, you talk about toxicity: She is the epicenter of toxic politics in the city of Chicago. And she has failed our city miserably. And no matter how much she tries to change the narrative now, she won’t be able to undo the fact that three years of failure that has so degraded our city that it’s going to be a herculean lift to set us back on track,” Lopez added.
Lightfoot has presided over the crime-ridden city, where there is no end in sight to the ongoing carnage. According to NBC Chicago, the July 4th weekend alone saw 10 people killed and more than 60 wounded in gun violence.
A website that tracks the mayhem and presents somewhat different stats than the official government tally, claims that year to date, 1,688 persons in Chicago have been shot, 314 of whom died from their wounds. Overall, the city has seen 343 murders so far.
At the beginning of the interview, Lopez castigated Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown as a deflecting “$300,000 puppet to Lori Lightfoot” for putting the onus on parents in catch-and-release Chicago.
“Everything that the superintendent says rings hollow when he’s trying to hold parents accountable and telling them to be aware when our own judicial system fails us on a weekly, daily basis — putting criminals back out on the street no sooner than our officers arrest them,” the alderman declared.
“The superintendent is following in Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s footsteps and deflecting responsibility for their own actions and their own policies that enable and embolden criminals in the city of Chicago. It isn’t the parents who decided to dismantle the gang unit, narcotics unit, and send the tactical units and detective units to go babysit monuments in Grant Park.
“It wasn’t the parents who decided that we’re going to work our officers three or four weeks without a day off. It wasn’t our parents who are not responding to 911 calls for two or three hours. That is the superintendent’s job. That is his failures…parents always need to step up, but he needs to get his own house in order,” Lopez insisted.

“Our officers are not allowed to engage. They are ‘handcuffed’ in their ability to address criminality in their midst, so much so that we are no longer allowed to even chase offenders in the city of Chicago….it’s madness…,” he contended.
Former Chicago Tribune columnist John Kass, an expert on everything Chicago, asserted on his blog that “Mass shootings in Chicago aren’t news. They’re a feature of daily life. But the national news media does not want to focus on the suffering in Democrat-controlled Chicago, lest they be compelled to deal with unwelcome conclusions. And the local newspapers hardly cover Cook County bond court, that place where the violent are often released to commit more violence on victims…”
