Kinzinger says Cassidy inspired new Jan 6 witnesses: ‘Every day we get new people that come forward’

For those still suffering the effects of Trump Derangement Syndrome, the made-for-TV show trial of the Jan. 6 committee has stood to reaffirm every facet of the narrative that corporate media remained intent on promoting. Now, thanks to the readily debunked “bombshell” testimony of former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson, Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) made clear the sham will go on with “new people that come forward.”

The congressman joined Dana Bash Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” to perpetuate the second-hand story that Hutchinson had fed to the committee involving former President Donald Trump, Secret Service assistant director Anthony Ornato and the head of his Secret Service detail, Robert Engel. Evidently, the media’s complicity in accepting the testimony that claimed, in part, that Trump had attempted to grab the steering wheel from his driver, which Bash admitted was second-hand, has inspired others to seek their own shot at fifteen minutes of fame.

“Congressman, since Cassidy Hutchinson’s testimony, have new witnesses come forward to want to speak up?” she asked her guest.

“Yes. I don’t want to get into who or any of those details, and it’s not even just Cassidy – by the way she’s been inspiring for a lot of people – this happens every day. Every day we get new people that come forward,” Kinzinger claimed.

That statement came after the Illinois lawmaker hedged on the veracity of Hutchinson’s testimony when Bash gently pressed on whether they had heard evidence to support her story.

“I’m not gonna say what we do or don’t have in terms of corroboration, but let me say this: What she said is this is what she heard. At no point did she say she was in the Beast with the president and saw this happen,” he recounted, using the favored term of the media for the presidential limousine.

“Now, you guys have done a good job of reporting Secret Service sources saying they heard the same story,” Kinzinger went on in reference to a report that CNN had presented which relied on more hearsay and provided no firsthand accounts of what Hutchinson had claimed.

“What you’re seeing now, and this is typical for Trump world, that nobody has argued, nobody has argued that the president didn’t want to go to the Capitol,” he went on, suggesting that because there may be a kernel of truth in the aide’s testimony that it must therefore be credible. “Nobody has argued that he didn’t know there were guns.”

“They’re trying to argue did he really grab for the Beast,” Kinzinger said, knowing that Engels and Ornato have stepped forward willing to testify about the incident in question.

The representative’s commitment to the narrative was unflappable, however, and he even went as far as to suggest Hutchinson “is gonna go down in history” for speaking before the committee, something he claimed she expressed no desire for.

“She doesn’t want to be out in the public spotlight but she has a commitment to truth that someone like [Gov.] Kristi Noem and most people in our party would benefit to take an ounce of,” he contended, referencing remarks he made earlier in the conversation.

Kinzinger had conveyed that the South Dakota governor’s view that Hutchinson was not credible was not the position of a “conservative, dedicated to truth,” and that her focus had turned toward aspirations of running for president or vice president.

He concluded that the spectacle of the Jan. 6 committee wasn’t ending anytime soon and “There will be way more information and stay tuned.”
