CNN finds two Secret Service sources to corroborate that Hutchinson’s testimony was indeed hearsay

The symbiotic relationship between progressive politics and the corporate media has left the latter seemingly incapable of straying from the narrative. So, after the so-called “bombshell” testimony of former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson to the Jan. 6 committee, rather than seek out the source of her second-hand account, CNN is propping up her hearsay with more of the same.

On Tuesday, Hutchinson testified to a number of claims regarding the behavior of former President Donald Trump on Jan. 6, 2021, that she reported were told to her by Secret Service assistant director Anthony Ornato. As previously reported, the committee has made no immediate moves to bring in Ornato or Robert Engel, the head of Trump’s Secret Service detail, and CNN reporters Noah Gray and Zachary Cohen are following that example.

They presented information from “two Secret Service sources” Friday that merely built upon the shoddy foundation of the hearsay already on record from Hutchinson.

Of the claim that the president had attempted to grab the steering wheel from the driver as Secret Service escorted him from the rally back to the White House, they cited one source having said, “[Trump] had sort of lunged forward — it was unclear from the conversations I had that he actually made physical contact, but he might have. I don’t know. Nobody said Trump assaulted him; they said he tried to lunge over the seat — for what reason, nobody had any idea.”

Alisyn Camerota jumped at the chance to use this as damning evidence against the president on “CNN Newsroom” stating, “Two Secret Service sources have just confirmed to CNN that Donald Trump did angrily demand to be taken to the U.S. Capitol as rioters, may I say armed rioters, approached Capitol Hill, and he berated his protective detail when he did not get his way.”

Her co-host, Victor Blackwell, followed that up by adding, “So, this is significant because it corroborates some of the testimony from Cassidy Hutchinson on Tuesday, which Trump and his allies have been trying to discredit.”

However, what none of the four CNN employees listed highlighted, was the fact that their sources refuted as much of Hutchinson’s hearsay as they corroborated.

The report stated: “The employee said he’d heard about the incident multiple times as far back as February 2021 from other agents, including some who were part of the presidential protective detail during that time period but none of whom were involved in the incident.”

“The other Secret Service source, who spoke to the driver and another agent who wasn’t there, said he heard about Trump verbally lashing out at his detail but not about any physical altercation. Neither source told CNN they had heard about Trump trying to grab at the steering wheel.”

The only consistency is that the president may have been upset that day. The media’s refusal to hear what Ornato and Engels have to say on the matter is only adding credence to their reported position that what has so far been presented is a gross misrepresentation of the facts.
