Full House star Jodie Sweetin leads lunatic mob trying to halt freeway, is shoved by LAPD

Celebrities love to add their input to any cause that will score them points with the social justice movement, but one “Full House” star did more than just talk Saturday when she joined a “group of peaceful protesters” antagonizing cops on the freeway and earned herself a close encounter with the pavement.

Protests from the Supreme Court ruling on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization carried over from Friday’s “night of rage” into Saturday as activists made their displeasure known on the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

In Los Angeles, California, that meant blocking motorists on the 101 freeway where 40-year-old actress Jodie Sweetin had an encounter with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

Dressed all in black and carrying a megaphone, a video captured by photojournalist Mike Ade shows Sweetin surrounded by officers on the dirt embankment beside the freeway before she is pushed in the direction of the crowd. In the process, she fell to the ground but quickly got back to her feet.

Warning: Language

Ade wrote of the video, “It pained me to see @JodieSweetin thrown to the ground by members of the LAPD as she was trying to lead a group of peaceful protestors away from the freeway…SMH @LAPDHQ what are y’all doing?”

Offering no clips of what led up to the interaction, the photojournalist went on to add, “Jodi is the definition of a real one and fortunately she’s okay! But for others who choose to protest today move with caution and keep your head on swivel. It’s going to be a very long summer.”

A protester could be heard screaming “What the f*ck is wrong with you guys?” at the police as Sweetin rejoined the ranks and a chant of “No justice, no peace” carried on.

In a statement from Sweetin reported by Yahoo! Entertainment, the actress said, “I’m extremely proud of the hundreds of people who showed up yesterday to exercise their First Amendment rights and take immediate action to peacefully protest the giant injustices that have been delivered from our Supreme Court.”

“Our activism will continue until our voices are heard and action is taken,” she added. “This will not deter us, we will continue fighting for our rights. We are not free until ALL of us are free.”

According to the outlet, Sweetin had raised $5,000 for Planned Parenthood on her Instagram page. Many on social media decried the police, as is the fashionable thing to do, without the full accounting of the incident being made available. It remains unknown how the actress had ended up surrounded by the police and what led to such a forceful dismissal.

What is known is how violent the protests had become the night prior in the city where officers had been surrounded and assaulted by activists, with one individual reportedly being arrested with a makeshift flamethrower.

Other videos from Ade taken at the same location clearly show the “peaceful protesters” antagonizing the officers while they illegally block the freeway.

Yahoo provided a statement from a spokesperson for LAPD’s Media Relations Division that read: “The LAPD is aware of a video clip of a woman being pushed to the ground by officers not allowing the group to enter on foot and overtake the 101 freeway. The force used will be evaluated against the LAPD’s policy and procedure. As the nation continues to wrestle with the latest Supreme Court decision, the Los Angeles Police Department will continue to facilitate First Amendment rights, while protecting life and property.”
