CNN didn’t waste an opportunity to exploit a weekend shooting at a Virginia shopping mall to advance the leftist narrative about the need for stricter gun control laws and blaming such violent incidents on America and racist police.
During Saturday’s edition of “CNN Newsroom,” host Jim Acosta covered the breaking news of the shooting at Tysons Corner Center and brought in former Obama DHS official Juliette Kayyem who is a national security analyst for the self-proclaimed “most trusted name in news” to discuss the panic that sent shoppers fleeing at the busy suburban mall.
The incident which stemmed from an argument naturally unnerved those who were at the mall as a jittery nation has been bombarded with media fearmongering over two recent high-profile massacres in Buffalo, NY, and Uvalde, Texas. spurring an all-out push for new restrictions on law-abiding gun owners.
Acosta noted that people were “freaking out over the possibility that there might be a mass shooter on the loose inside this very popular mall outside of Washington and it just goes to show you, this is what’s happening across the country right now, people are just completely terrified that something like this could happen in their community.”
After tossing out several talking points and dispensing parenting advice on how teens should best react to an active shooter situation, Kayyem blamed America.
“We are so acclimated to this in the United States, we don’t see how unique and exceptional in a bad way it is in terms of other countries…” she said. “This is not normal”
“No, it’s not,” Acosta agreed, “and how depressing is it that this is what our teenagers have to deal with now, and by the way, if you’re a parent of a teenager at home, I am one myself, teenagers around the world don’t do this on a regular basis.”
“Basically only American teenagers do this,” he added, joining in on the trashing of America.
“That’s right, Jim, and I have teenagers, too,” Kayyem responded. “I have teenage boys who, you know, I love them to death but sometimes their judgment isn’t the best and, you know, I do have to talk to them seriously and then—and these are not — my — you know, these are kids that tend not to get into trouble but—but– if there’s an incident like this that—that–, you know, the most heroic move they can make is run, right?”
“That your judgment has to be to—to– run. And that’s very hard. And when you think of other issues like racial issues and others that many teenage—teenagers– face, African-American boys and whatever else, it is not — it is a — with police,” she added, smearing cops as racists.
“It is not a –- it is a tense time and if anything, if there’s any benefit to being on right now, besides the fact we have—we had– a shooting incident with no deaths, is to remind people that it’s the shooting incident that is the bad news, right?” she asked. “And the fact that there were no deaths is a pretty low floor and we should remind ourselves of that in a culture that is seeing these mass shootings once a day.”
Acosta wrapped up the segment, “But, it’s just a reminder that the specter of mass gun violence hangs over every community in the United States of America, it’s just the way of life in this country right now.”
“It’s become an accepted way of life for many Americans and we should note this is also occurring as gun legislation is once again predictably stalling in the Senate,” he said with clear dismay that the “bipartisan” gun control measures demanded by Democrats have run into headwinds.
The left, it seems, is never interested in solutions, only race-baiting, gun-grabbing, America-blaming and the relentless advancement of their agenda and CNN is the tip of their propaganda spear.
