Down in polling, Bill de Blasio whines to MSNBC that rival is getting ‘unfair advantage’ in air time

Bill de Blasio, of all people, seems to be complaining about liberal bias in the media.

The far-left former New York City mayor reportedly claims that MSNBC is giving a rival for the Democrat nomination in Gotham’s 10th congressional district too much facetime.

According to de Blasio, former MSNBC legal analyst Dan Goldman, who was the lead Democrat prosecutor during Trump impeachment 1.0, is getting an “unfair competitive advantage” in the multi-candidate political contest for the redrawn U.S. House seat that covers parts of Manhattan and Brooklyn.

The New York Post reports that the two-term mayor, who was only drawing 6 percent in polling a week after announcing his run last month, lodged his complaint by letter to MSNBC President Rashida Jones.

“Mr. Goldman is officially a candidate for Congress in the newly created 10th Congressional District in New York City. And as a declared candidate for this seat, he has appeared on MSNBC at least four times, sometimes with advertisements for his campaign in the background shot of these media hits,” de Blasio wrote to the boss of the ultra-liberal, ratings-challenged network that often peddles conspiracy theories.

“While I deeply respect the expertise of Mr. Goldman, these appearances…are not meant to serve as free advertising for his Congressional campaign,” de Blasio continued.

“These appearances provide him with an unfair competitive advantage against the 14 other candidates in the race and could even be construed as an in-kind donation to Mr. Goldman’s campaign.”

According to Ballotpedia, there are or were 17 Democrat candidates for the primary that is scheduled for August 23.

The ex-mayor’s letter requests that MSNBC “pause” Goldman’s appearances during the campaign.

Would-be congressman de Blasio formally announced his candidacy on a May 20 episode of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

A Goldman spokesman, spewing out tedious anti-Trump talking points in the process, said “Based on Dan’s work leading the impeachment of Donald Trump, it is not surprising that MSNBC has asked him to provide expert analysis on Trump’s authoritarian scheme to abuse his power and undermine our democracy. It is not Dan’s fault or MSNBC’s that Bill de Blasio’s views are not equally value.”

The House seat became open when sleepy Jerry Nadler opted to run in what he considers a more favorable, post-redistricting 12th congressional district, where he will be primarying incumbent Carolyn Maloney in another left-vs.-left scenario.

Perhaps more than anyone else, de Blasio is responsible for the rapid deterioration of the quality of life in NYC during his eight-year administration. Living conditions, including public safety, have not, as yet, improved much under de Blasio’s successor Eric Adams.

In early May, de Blasio penned an essay for The Atlantic, in which he admitted that “when it comes to being unpopular, I’m unfortunately somewhat of an expert. I made my fair share of mistakes. President Biden and the Democratic Party should learn from them.”
