A bright light in the wake of the COVID pandemic has been in truly revealing the absolutism of zealots who see no room for compromise, insisting that others comply fully with their whims. A Canadian professor willingly demonstrated this Saturday but stepped on a rake in the process as his efforts to publicly shame a flight attendant ended in a severe ratio for his “creepy” post.
Amir Attaran is a professor of law and epidemiology at the University of Ottawa in Ontario, Canada. During his studies at schools like UC Berkeley and Oxford, he evidently missed out on learning tact and civility and he put his failings on display after boarding a United Airlines flight from Ottawa to Chicago, IL.
“Hey @United, why are you breaking the law?” Attaran asked in a Twitter post that included multiple photos of a maskless flight attendant. “Masks are required on all flights out of Canada. Your flight attendant isn’t wearing one! This is UA3737 in Ottawa right now.”

It’s worth pointing out that the professor takes his virtue-signaling on face coverings to a level above the typical mask Karen and he proudly displayed his in-flight personal protective equipment prior to boarding.
Another flight on an American mask-free airline, another day for the P100 mask. It’s actually more comfortable than a N95. pic.twitter.com/LfBlPgWsQj

Capitulating to the self-absorbed as they so often do, United issued a response to Attaran within the hour stating, “Hi Amir, thanks for bringing this to our attention. We’ve informed the appropriate teams for further review.”
While their reaction to his public shaming of their employee may have been cordial, the rest of social media proved that they are far beyond done with “mask-holes” who refuse to let the world move beyond the pandemic.

Show me the randomized control trial that shows masks work to slow the spread, Herr Professor.
Let me save you the time: There isn’t one. Nor is there valid observational data at any level. Academia has become a sham thanks to “professors” like you who can’t do basic analysis.

Do you know what kind of hell flight attendants have been through during this pandemic? Dealing with harassment and bullying nonstop? And you post this poor woman’s photo and target her?
And then admit later she didn’t even know? https://t.co/kPVLbLQPeS

That’s right, even after Attaran learned that the flight attendant was unaware that the law in Canada still required masks to be worn, he kept the post up to shame her.
Further proof that only total adherence to his worldview would suffice, he called the response from United “BS” and decided to draw their attention to the specific rules of Transport Canada. As such, one social media user was happy to help educate the stickler on some United Airlines policies he might be interested in.

The backlash against the airline was almost as severe as against the professor with Christina Pushaw, spokeswoman for Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), using her large platform to shame United. “You throw your employees under the bus like this in public and then wonder why you have to cancel so many flights due to staffing shortages??? She didn’t do anything wrong. This guy is a creep to post this.”
Seriously, @united? You throw your employees under the bus like this in public and then wonder why you have to cancel so many flights due to staffing shortages???

Pushaw followed that up with another shot against the “creepy” professor by retweeting his P100 mask selfie and writing, “He wears this on a plane but he doesn’t think it protects him?? So everyone else has to play along with his delusions?”

While Attaran continued to rant on Twitter and engaged with many of the users who replied to his post, one person honed in on the mentality of the professor and his ilk, calling him out on the ground the activists love to dominate – woke politics.
Trying to get a black woman fired on Juneteenth weekend is peak white progressive privilege.
