New poll shows majority of Americans opposed to transgenders competing in girls and women’s sports

A majority of Americans are opposed to the participation of transgender athletes in girls’ and women’s sports according to a new poll, validating concerns about the unfair advantage that biological males have over their female competitors and providing additional evidence that the tide has shifted against the left’s “woke” cultural revolution.

The Washington Post-University of Maryland poll shows that 55 percent of respondents are against allowing transgenders to compete with girls and women in high school sports and 58 percent are opposed to it in college and pro sports.

Only 30 percent were supportive of transgenders being allowed to compete against girls and women, a minority that has been amplified by having the national media in their corner despite the reality that most Americans come down on the opposite side of the contentious and controversial issue.

The poll generated much response on Twitter as users took to the platform to express their own opinions.

“Better headline might be most Americans oppose men dominating women’s sports,” wrote Douglas Blair of the Daily Signal.

“A Washington Post poll finds a clear majority of Americans do not want boys competing against girls in girls’ high school and college sports. Concurrently, the Biden Administration is going to deny school lunch program money to schools that keep boys out of girls’ sports,” wrote conservative pundit and radio host Erick Erickson, noting that the regime is conducting extortion against states that forbid transgenders in girl’s sports.

The debate has intensified after University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas became the first openly transgender individual to win a Division 1 NCAA championship event, drawing national attention as well as intense criticism over the obvious physical advantage that Thomas had over real women.

Also weighing in on the poll was Sydney Bauer, a freelance journalist who covered the Olympics and took exception to the Washington Post’s framing of the poll.

“The reactionary pundit does not need to think of a world where sport needs rules and regulations and the minute details that entails so the reactionary pundit can only believe trans athletes are a threat because they must be included without any thought. That’s the simple danger,” she wrote.

“Todays Washington post poll about trans athletes asks only people to think of a young high school girl and a trans feminine athlete and compare them and think if they should play together on a high school team. That’s not how any of sport administration works.”

“That’s how this discussion is framed. That’s how it’s legislated. And that’s how fear is drummed up. Trans athlete participation is something that needs to be normalized but it doesn’t happen in a vacuum like no sport happens in a vacuum :))))),” Bauer added. “Maybe more Americans should play amateur sports with their friends. And if they have they likely have played with a trans person. Maybe then these polls would have some perspective. Sports are supposed to be fun 🙂 come play!”

Twitter users reacted to the WaPo poll, with both sides weighing in.

One thing is for sure and that is the transgender agenda is facing growing backlash after years of easy victories made possible by the disproportionate media coverage.
