California Governor Gavin Newsom took to Twitter to brag about joining former President Donald Trump’s social media site, Truth Social, to rip “Republican lies.” That didn’t exactly go down the way he had planned.
“I just joined Trump’s Truth Social. Going to be on there calling out Republican lies,” he tweeted. “This could get…interesting. My first post — breaking down America’s red state murder problem.”

For those who want to see the post via Truth Social, you can use this link.
“I know we’re all on this platform in search for the truth,” he claimed in his video. “But the truth is I’ve not been able to find a simple explanation for the fact that we have a red state murder problem.”
Perhaps he is trying to use the same tactic that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., employed, which led to her getting promptly rebuffed by Twitter users. She tried to claim that all of the deadliest cities were in Republican-run states, but failed to notice that most of the cities on the list were themselves run by Democrats.

Whatever he was trying to do, it failed spectacularly:
All of those states have lower homicide rates than LA County alone

LA County homicide rate is at a 16 year high!

One of those “Red States” is Louisiana which has a Dem Governor.
Secondly, many murders are in cities run by Dems: Baton Rouge and New Orleans both in LA have of the worst murder rates.
Third, some of these Dem cities have worse rates than the states that you mentioned.

A short thread in response to this nonsense. Newsom is dunking on his own party and he doesn’t even realize it, or thinks that you won’t. https://t.co/GmtifgfMyT

What is the reason people are leaving your state to move to red states then? I don’t quite see people moving from red states to CA. Why? Businesses leaving CA too. Why?
