Republican political contenders go off when Michigan AG touts a ‘drag queen for every classroom!’

Michigan’s first openly gay attorney general Dana Nessel believes there should be “a drag queen for every school.”

During a civil rights summit where she spoke about the division in America, Nessel said “Drag queens make everything better. Drag queens are fun.”

The  Michigan AG was previously criticized for her support of school closures during the COVID pandemic and for admitting her 2021 prosecution of a restaurant owner who defied COVID lockdowns was politically motivated.

Conversely, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is fighting against the rise of drag shows for children in his state, saying, “you had these very young kids, and they must have been like 9, 10 years old, at a quote, ‘drag show,’ where they were putting money in the underwear of this — and that is totally inappropriate. That is not something that children should be exposed to.”

Such performances have become popular in the usual leftist-run cities ever since a bar in Dallas promoted the “Drag the kids to pride” drag show which gave minors the chance to dance on the stage with half-dressed drag queens who doled out cash to the child performers.

From Detroit News reporter Craig Mauger:

Matt DePerno, the Republican candidate for Michigan attorney general, blasted Nessel for her unhinged comments.

“Dana Nessel continues to show just how completely out of touch she is with Michiganders,” said DePerno in a statement.

DePerno also criticized Nessel for backing school lockdowns measures during the COVID pandemic.

“Students in the third grade are behind on their reading, our test scores are some of the worst in the country thanks to these disastrous COVID lockdowns and she calls for drag shows for kindergartners,” he added.

Tudor Dixon, the Republican candidate for Michigan governor, was also critical of Nessel’s commentary.

“When I am governor, schools will answer to local parents, not progressive activists, drag queens, and trans-supremacists,” Tudor tweeted. “The days of radical activist politicians sexualizing our kids are over.”

Nessel appears to be taking a cue from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who during a recent appearance on “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” made the sickening statement that “drag is what America is all about.”

Remember all those men in drag who fought the British crown for independence, stormed the beaches of Normandy and went to the moon? Neither does anyone else.

“My honor to be here to say to all of you, how proud we all are of you. Thank you for the joy and beauty you bring to the world,” Pelosi said as she stood clad in a bright yellow pants suit.

“Your freedom of expression of yourselves in drag is what America is all about,” Pelosi told the contestants, adding, “I say that all the time to my friends in drag.”
