The prime time House hearings on January 6 have, if nothing else, shown us just how differently two people can interpret the same events. Take, for example, the post-hearing analysis on Fox News from hosts Sean Hannity and Bret Baier, who, after seeing the same spectacle, came away with two diametrically opposed takes on how former President Donald Trump fared.
As far as Hannity was concerned, Trump emerged from the first of what will be many public hearings on the matter looking better than ever.
Fox News did not carry the hearings.
As they were coming to a close, Hannity was joined by guests John Solomon and Kash Patel to give some real-time analysis, and the host focused in on the question of security at the Capitol.
“John Solomon, based on your investigative reporting, based on Kash’s personal experience at the DOD, all the attempts to get people to call up the [National] Guard, basically begging them to take the Guard, how does this play out as this narrative now takes over — I think the entire story, because this is about a security failure of incredible magnitude, and they don’t even seem to want to talk about it,” Hannity said.
“The one person who looks good is Donald Trump,” he added. “Donald Trump authorized it.”
Solomon agreed, suggesting that the Dems’ obsession with Trump will be their downfall.
“He’s living rent-free in the Democrats’ heads 15 months after leaving office,” he replied. “They are so obsessed with Donald Trump, they are missing their opportunity to save the election because they’re not talking about all the issues that were laid out in the segment before us, right? Baby formula, gas prices, inflation, the border crime — they’re going to lose the election because they’ve been letting Donald Trump live in their head.”
Now, compare that to Bret Baier’s take on Trump’s emergence from the public hearing.
Baier shared his thoughts as he joined Fox News’s Shannon Bream and Martha MacCallum to discuss the hearing and while he, too, believed the question of security at the Capitol is key, he came to a decidedly different conclusion.
Regarding the Proud Boys who allegedly skipped the president’s speech at the rally and headed straight for the Capitol building, Baier said, “if this was a planned thing, the filmmakers with the Proud Boys and they passed by the speech, they go right to this confrontation, and then it happens.”
“And they see only one or two guards,” he continued. “Why they didn’t have more security at that point is really a big question.”
But unlike Hannity, Baier believes the night’s hearing left Trump tarnished.
“[T]he focus seems to be the target of President Trump, and he looks really bad in this presentation,” Baier concluded. “He’s just watching the TVs and kinda applauding what’s happening. And then, Liz Cheney says that maybe Mike Pence maybe ‘deserves’ to be hung. [Former Pence Chief of Staff] Marc Short said the Vice President didn’t hear that at the time. He didn’t hear the chants. He didn’t talk to President Trump that day. He actually didn’t talk to him for five days after that.”
So, depending on whom you listen to, Trump either came out of the House’s presentation looking great or really bad.
On social media, one Twitter user decided it was best not to listen to either of the Fox News anchors.

Baier and McCallum are both left lean, I use to think Baier had what it takes to be a good journalist, but he let his true colors surface too many times, no longer watch the “fat” bias gas bag.
Bret Baeir is a mild Chris Wallace. When he comes on after Jesse Watters, I change the channel. Hannity is a good friend of Trump, so of course he looks thru rose-colored glasses. I’m waiting on the polls and the viewership stats.
This Committee is the most public display of political repression we’ve seen to date. It is TRULY the third impeachment of Trump and about as full of manure as the last two. And if you take Trump out of this, you see a political party threatening this entire country to TOE THEIR LINE OR ELSE. You should be terrified, BUT resolved. This AIN’T their country, it’s ours. How about “no”.
Brett Baker makes me puke. I prefer newsmax to watching this. Baier is reason for me to turn off GUTFELD, if he is a guest on that show.

Anyways, for you Kool-Aid drinkers who will believe the conservative media/pundits spin… This televised sham of a hearing will NOT help Trump. While the FEW of us who read/watch conservative media, know this is a one-sided witch hunt, the Lo-info voters who MAYBE watched this BS don’t know. They’re going to think they are doing their patriotic due diligence by watching this, and think they ‘learned’ something. Now they will think they are in the know when a late night comedian or daytime talk show talks about this. Fortunately, this will only hurt Trump. But the republicans better step up their game with us core voters, because without US, they will lose.
I agree that the game better be stepped up and get the whole truth out there. I disagree this hurts Trump. We are aware of what’s happening. This theatre is to cover for crazy Joe Biden.

I saw the pics of park gatherings of people to watch as a party, only about a dozen at any of them. Let’s see what the viewership is for 1st episode, and then see viewership of any new episodes. I love the BPR (or was it The Bee) that declared Miley Cyrus was hired to do half-time show.
