‘A shameful display by grotesque people’: Cheney applauded at ‘watch party’ for Jan 6 sham hearing

Not surprisingly, the prime-time Jan. 6 hearing generated a lot of interest from all sides of the political spectrum, but as Democrats elevated the event to something akin to the moon landing — excitedly tweeting photos of themselves at organized watch parties or snuggled in with a bowl of popcorn — Fox News host Tammy Bruce was expressing her disgust with the heavily-produced, and for Bruce, decidedly “grotesque” spectacle.

As reported, Dems spent the days leading up to Thursday’s House Committee on Jan. 6 hearing promoting it like it was the premiere of a new Marvel movie.

On opening night, liberal viewers dutifully responded with organized watch parties featuring a distinct tailgate vibe.

“Why are people treating this like it’s the Moon Landing?” asked one Twitter user in a response to a photo tweeted by a New York Times correspondent, of one such watch party, during which RINO Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) apparently received a round of applause.

According to WUSA9, there were several of these gatherings all around D.C.

Meanwhile, “Blue Check” celebrities on Twitter, like Mark Hamill, were popping popcorn to go with their propaganda.

“I am SO ready for accountability for the violent insurrection against our government & the coup incited by Drumpf & his minions,” the one-time “Star Wars” hero tweeted enthusiastically. “Will YOU be watching the @January6Cmte?”

Actor Mandy Patinkin, known to a generation of young people as the guy in that “I don’t think it means what you think it means” gif, shared a video of him and his wife, actress Kathryn Grody, urging people to watch the hearings because “the entire nation” was “riveted” by the Watergate hearings.

Quoting former Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Director Christopher Krebs, Patinkin tweeted, “An insurrection without consequences is simply practice.”

In his unfettered excitement, Robert Costa tweeted a shot of the hearing room door, as though he might at any moment press a glass to it.

This was the energy projected by many libs who seemed more interested in having their beliefs about Jan. 6 confirmed than they were with any sort of objective analysis of facts.

Fox News anchor Tammy Bruce was not amused.

In a three-part Twitter thread, she suggested that Congress’s priorities were far from on point.

“Politico: WH saw baby food crisis as ‘not a top level’ issue; CBS: Gas prices hit historic high; WaPo: Summer blackouts due to Biden’s war on coal, wheezing power grid leaves states at risk; FBN: Inflation hits poorest most, will stick around for ‘many months,'” she tweeted.

“What is Congress doing as everything collapses?” she continued. “They’re holding a ‘show’ run by a TV producer targeting a political opponent, a man who got things done and improved everything in this country.”

“Why persecute him & us?” she asked. “Because they’re envious & embarrassed by their own failures.”

“Tonight’s little display has nothing to do with Jan 6 and everything to do with demonizing Trump and his supporters, over 70 million Americans, incl parents and families who are concerned about their children & the future,” Bruce concluded.

“Tonight is a shameful display by grotesque people.”
