Biden stumbles on plane stairs again, calls for ‘both parties’ to do something about crime

President Joe Biden sought to spin the results of two California elections that strongly suggest that even the most liberal voters have grown tired of skyrocketing crime rates by claiming that it’s the responsibility of both parties to act despite the fact that it is in Democrat-controlled areas where criminals have been running amok.

On Tuesday, San Francisco voters decisively pulled the plug on far-left district attorney Chesa Boudin, overwhelmingly recalling the son of two convicted Weather Underground terrorists, a major defeat for a party that has seen its opportunistic embrace of defunding the police blow up in its face after the genie of violent crime was allowed to escape the bottle two summers ago after the unfortunate George Floyd incident.

Also on Tuesday, law and order candidate and former Republican Rick Caruso’s strong showing in the nonpartisan Los Angeles mayoral primary gave him a clear path to city hall if he defeats Democrat Rep. Karen Bass in a runoff in November, a result that doesn’t bode well for Democrats as a party if they are losing the faith of voters in such deep blue areas.

Biden made his remarks shortly before stumbling up the stairs of Air Force One at Joint Base Andrews on Wednesday afternoon, acting as though the Democrat war on police that has emboldened the dregs of society to act out criminally had never happened.

According to Biden who gave a brief statement to reporters from the tarmac, “I think the voters sent a clear message last night, both parties have to step up and do something about crime, as well as gun violence.”

“And I sent, as you recall, with the first major bill we passed, we gave the states and localities billions of dollars, billions of dollars they have, and I encouraged them to use it to hire police officers and reform their police departments, very few have done it,” Biden said.

“In addition to that, I sent to Congress a request for $300 million in this year’s budget to deal with hiring cops, to retrain cops, as well as to make sure they are adequately dispersed around the communities,” he continued. “It’s time they move. It’s time to states and the localities spend the money they have to deal with crime, as well as retrain police officers, as well as provide for more community policing.”

“It’s time to get on with doing that. And that’s what I think the message last night from the American public was in all the primaries,” he added.

Biden’s remarks drew far less attention than his nearly wiping out on the way up the stairs to board the plane for his trip to California for the Summit of the Americas, an event that won’t be attended by Mexico’s President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador who is protesting the administration’s exclusion of some Latin American leaders.

With rampant crime near the top of the list of issues for voters in this critical midterm election year and beyond, backlash against Democrats and their push to defund and dismantle police departments is a major problem now that enthusiasm for the tarnished Black Lives Matter movement has waned considerably since the summer of 2020 and the consequences of anti-cop rhetoric and policies have turned the streets of many areas controlled by the party into predatory environments where criminals feast on helpless victims.

Another high-profile, soft-on-crime policies district attorney, Los Angeles County’s George Gascon is on the cusp of being recalled with a petition getting closer to gathering the magic number of signatures to put his destiny into the hands of voters.

Biden and his fellow Democrats can try to point their fingers at the opposition party for the explosion in crime but they only have themselves to blame and voters aren’t as stupid as they think that they are.
