The Biden administration is bringing out the heavy artillery to make the case for the Democrat assault on the Second Amendment, trotting out actor and Texas native Matthew McConaughey at Tuesday’s White House press briefing who, unlike his fellow celebs who rabidly demand the disarmament of Americans, came across in a reasonable manner as he expressed his support for new restrictions on gun ownership.
With a major push for new gun control laws following the massacres in Uvalde, Texas and at a Buffalo, N.Y. grocery store, the beloved McConaughey would seem to be a perfect choice as the public face of what is being falsely advertised as reasonable measures by a party that has done nothing but act in bad faith since it seized complete control of the U.S. government, providing some serious star power to sell the left’s anti-gun agenda to fence-sitters.
The 52-year-old Uvalde native gave an impassioned address, paying a heart-wrenching tribute to the 19 young children who were slaughtered in cold blood by an 18-year-old lunatic at Robb Elementary School, striking an emotional chord such as when he spoke of the “green Converse” athletic shoes on the feet of one young victim being the only way to identify her, earning the actor kudos from leftist social media influencers.

Matthew McConaughey: "These bodies were very different… They needed extensive restoration. Why? Due to the exceptionally large exit wounds of an AR-15 rifle. Most of the bodies so mutilated that only DNA tests or green Converse could identify them." pic.twitter.com/ARz3wBcxYN

NEW: Uvalde native Matthew McConaughey just choked up at the White House press briefing and slammed the podium while talking about 10-year-old shooting victim Maite Rodriguez—her body was so mutilated by the AR-15 that she could only be identified by her favorite green converse.

McConaughey threw his support behind raising the purchase age of AR-15 style rifles to 21, background checks, increased investment in mental health care, safer schools, a restraint on “sensationalized media coverage,” restoring family values, a waiting period for gun purchasing and red flag laws which he defended as a “reasonable” response to the murderous actions of deranged individuals despite the impact on the tens of millions of gun owners who would never dream of acting out in such a manner and, in today’s environment, could be stripped of their constitutional rights without due process by the red flag laws which will undoubtedly be abused by the left against their political enemies.

The actor also said, “Responsible gun owners are fed up with the Second Amendment being abused and hijacked by some deranged individuals, these regulations are not a step back, they’re a step forward, for a civil society and, and the Second Amendment.”
“Look, is this a cure-all?” McConaughey asked, “Hell no, but people are hurtin’, families are, parents are, and look, as divided as our country is, this gun responsibility issue is one that we agree on more than we don’t. It really is.”
“But this should be a non-partisan issue, this should not be a partisan issue,” he said as he delivered his address in the most partisan setting possible. “There is not a Democratic or Republican value in one single act of these shooters.”
It was an award-worthy performance, causing one reporter to ask the actor, “Were you grandstanding just now, sir?”

The immensely popular actor could be the Democrats’ secret weapon to manufacture consent for their grasp for the Holy Grail of stripping law-abiding Americans of their right to bear arms in defense of themselves and their loved ones.
He also went to Capitol Hill for a sit-down with Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the queen of the gun-grabbers.
Today, I had the privilege of welcoming @McConaughey to the US Capitol to discuss Congress’ efforts on gun violence prevention legislation. After the recent tragedy in his hometown of Uvalde, we agreed on the need for urgent action to save lives — especially for the children. pic.twitter.com/8eVpVDLUhJ

Pelosi’s Senate counterpart Chuck Schumer also posted pictures of his meeting with McConaughey.
Thank you to @McConaughey and @IAmCamilaAlves for meeting with me today to discuss meaningful legislation on gun safety.
We owe it to every single neighborhood, community, and household that has been ripped apart by gun violence.
We're going to keep working. pic.twitter.com/IaqPPKJiD3

Twitter’s reactions to McConaughey’s spiel were a mixed bag.

Culturally insecure conservatives propped up BASED Matthew McConaughey. lol, it’s all so tiresome.

In case any of y’all are still confused on this, our constitutional rights don’t come from @McConaughey or any other celebrity. Thanks.

Sorry Matthew McConaughey but actors invited up to the podium to act by an incompetent admin’s even more incompetent Press Sec don’t circumvent the Constitution.
Go make a movie and we will keep our guns.

Thank you @McConaughey. You just framed this perfectly. Since my daughter Jaime was murdered in Parkland, I have tried to engage gun owners and dads to support doing more.

I thought he sounded pretty reasonable.

His “Responsible gun owners are fed up with the Second Amendment being abused and hijacked by some deranged individuals” does not mean that responsible gun owners want the federal government to further infringe on their Second Amendment rights.

Couldn’t agree more. We have to reach beyond our politics & save lives. 👏 Thank you @McConaughey for giving a voice to the voiceless. Gun owners like yourself are the best advocates for action on gun responsibility. You’re putting #CountryFirst & it speaks volumes. https://t.co/P9PP7Vhc7F

I am so tired of listening to Hollywood elites like Matthew McConaughey about how we are supposed to live our lives and protect our families. While he lives in gated communities with armed security. Especially when he does not know what the hell he is talking about!
— Hodgetwins (@hodgetwins) June 7, 2022
Hope Matthew McConaughey puts his support behind Beto. Every little thing could help. Texas needs to get rid of Abbott. It will save lives.
— Wajahat Ali (@WajahatAli) June 7, 2022
Is it true that Matthew McConaughey is going to give victims of gun violence all of the money he made as a result of starring in movies where he bore arms?
— toddstarnes (@toddstarnes) June 7, 2022
Finally a famous white male gun owner is publicly outraged at gun extremism. Thank God. Thank you, Matthew McConaughey.

My suspicion is that Matthew McConaughey is actually speaking for a lot more gun owners – certainly responsible gun owners – than the NRA.

As recently as 2018 though, the “Dallas Buyer’s Club” star was fully in alignment with the most extreme elements of the Democratic Party including President Biden, calling for the ban of the AR-15 style weapons entirely. And while his White House spiel was much more polished and reasonable, the internet doesn’t forget.

With the deeply unpopular Biden’s ratings in a downward spiral, the idea to turn to McConaughey is both one of necessity as well as a seriously savvy move in a country in which celebrities are revered and trusted far more than politicians by much of the populace. Whether he can help to deliver the Democrats’ draconian gun control laws remains to be seen.
