A self-described Democratic digital strategist and Gen-Z activist, who attends an Ivy League school (of course,) is proposing that consumers abandon Chick-fil-A permanently rather than just during Pride Month in June.
Consumers don’t appear to be receptive to going along with a banty boycott, however.
Perhaps this recommendation to some degree arises because the popular fast-food chain known for its chicken sandwiches appears to be one of the few big-name corporate entities that are not, so far, signaling its virtue with social media Pride logos, the latter which billionaire Elon Musk recently playfully mocked.
Chick-fil-A, with its Christian-centric company values, and the left have been at odds over the years in the context of LGBTQ issues.
The aforementioned influencer, Florida Man Jack Cocchiarella, took to Twitter to write to his nearly 200,000 followers that “If you can give up Chick-fil-A for Pride Month, you can give it up for the rest of your life.”

The suggestion has received about 36,000 Twitter likes so far, assuming the statistics are accurate and are not artificially inflated by bots.
Whether social media has any effect on the revenue stream of the restaurant franchise with about 2,700 locations that closes its stores on Sunday is another matter entirely.
According to the Franchise Times, moreover, 2021 was a banner year for Chick-fil-A. “Revenue reached $5.8 billion in 2021 compared to $4.3 billion in 2020, an increase of 33.3 percent. Comprehensive earnings were $1.2 billion in 2021 compared to $715.9 million in 2020, an increase of 67.3 percent.”
The activist is accordingly getting a lot of liberal Twitter applause for politicizing poultry, but many others are crying foul about the idea.
I’m a liberal Dem, but sorry I can’t make all my food, shopping, movies, TV shows, every product I buy, and every service I use, decisions, based on researching every company and everyone associated with those companies to make sure I agree with every policy everyone has.

I support a lot of things but I will not give up Chick-fil-A, now you making me want to double down and go for some today.

Here is the thing, Chick-fil-A doesn’t have anything against people who are LGBTQ.

I’m going to go to Chick-Fil-A even harder. https://t.co/yxqIoXrNyF

Previously, < 2% of the Cathy family’s foundation money went to groups opposing same-sex marriage. ~8 years ago those ended entirely. You won’t find another chain’s employees that treat everybody as good as CFA’s do. Their service is the best no matter who you are.

Why would you want to do that. The only people you hurt by boycotting are the low level employees trying to make ends meet.
Do you think a boycott affects the higher ups.
Boycott Home Depot and Hobby Lobby too? Same argument. Nah. I’m good.

I’ve never cared about the politics of the owners, managers or employees of the places I eat. It’s weird that you do.

I cannot give up Chick-fil-A for Pride Month, and I give anyone reading this the “Guilt-Free CFA Pass” until the end of time. https://t.co/yuTetNkOuX

Do you usually look into the personal beliefs of all the retailers you do business with? They are providing a product or service, and their only obligation to you is do so in a quality manner.

May be but I’ll keep it eating it this month and next month and every month. I’ll eat where I choose to and no one will tell me different
