During the heated moments of Thursday’s House Judiciary Committee markup for the Democratic Party’s latest effort to advance their gun control agenda, freshman Rep. Mondaire Jones of New York vowed that his party will eliminate the filibuster and pack the Supreme Court if that’s what it takes to cram through their assault on the Second Amendment.
Jones expressed the brazen, full-throated contempt that his party has for the Constitution, American institutions, and most of all, the “democracy” that Democrats endlessly preach about, expressing out loud what an overwhelming majority of his fellow party members believe although are reluctant to admit in a critical election year with their political power at stake.
“We can’t let you get away with this anymore,” Jones said, “enough is enough, enough of you telling us that school shootings are a fact of life when every other country like ours have virtually ended it.”
“Enough of you blaming mental illness and then defunding mental health care in this country,” he continued. “Enough of your thoughts and prayers, enough!” Jones said as he slammed his hand down on the desk.
“Enough!” he said, pounding the desk a second time for emphasis.
“You will not stop us from advancing the Protecting our Kids Act today,” he vowed. “You will not stop us from passing it in the house next week and you will not stop us there.”
“If the filibuster obstructs us, we will abolish it,” he ranted. “If the Supreme Court objects, we will expand it and we will not rest until we have taken weapons of war out of circulation in our communities, each and every day, we will do whatever it takes to end gun violence, whatever it takes.”
Republican Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio responded to Jones’ fascistic demonstration of seething contempt for the rules-based order that has served America since the nation’s creation.

Twitter users reacted to Jones’ warning shot against the freedoms of law-abiding gun owners as well as the system itself.
More proof that Democrats want to expand the court and end the filibuster.

In other words, “We will stomp all over your rights. We will continue to stoke mistrust in our institutions by overreach in our authority. We will break rules and seek to destroy anyone or anything that gets in our way. We will not rest until our power over the people is complete.

Has @MondaireJones removed armed security from protecting himself? He should set the example for lawful gun-owners to follow. Until then 🖕🏻.

Myopic and dangerous speech. They will just railroad the constitution and institutional norms to run their agenda through. Unreal.

Lol. I’m sure the leadership really appreciates a freshman congressman ranting like this.
“Hey? How can we woo some of those on-the-fence independents our way?”
“I know! What if we threaten them with single party rule if they don’t do things our way?”

Nice grandstanding. Try achieving your goals without shredding our procedures, institutions and Constitutional rights. Thank you.

A defiant Jones refused to walk back his incendiary remarks.
I’m being attacked by the GOP because I want to do everything in our power to stop children from being massacred by weapons of war.
You'll find no apology here. https://t.co/54arVovy3P
