‘Whoa!’ Camera comes crashing to ground as Jake Tapper engages in rare pushback on WH adviser

In what might be regarded as a metaphor for President Joe Biden’s collapsing job approval, a live CNN interview with a White House official went sideways, literally, as a camera crashed to the ground.

“Whoa, whoa, whoa,” Brian Deese, Biden’s director of the National Economic Council, and an Obama retread, said, as the equipment that was filming him outside the White House dislodged.

In the video clip embedded above, Deese was in the middle of interrogation about the baby formula shortage from CNN’s Jake Tapper on Wednesday when the back and forth came to an abrupt end.

Although Tapper has a track record of being an apologist for Democrats and their agenda, he was uncharacteristically aggressive in this interview conducted remotely in challenging Deese on the administration’s slow response, from Biden on down, to the infant formula shortfall.

In referencing the timeline, the host of CNN’s “The Lead” was particularly critical of Biden’s purported lack of knowledge about the crisis.

“The White House has said the administration has been working on the issue since February. So how come President Biden didn’t know it was gonna be bad until April?,” Tapper asked in what might be a What did the president know and when did he know it? moment.

In an attempt at what he described as a clarification, Deese seemed to put the onus on the shutdown of the Abbott baby formula factory in Michigan and the company’s alleged slowness in going along with a consent decree with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to ramp-up production after an investigation into potential bacterial infections.

Tapper seemed unconvinced: “I guess I still just don’t fully understand why you didn’t tell the president until April if the problem was reported to the FDA last fall, the FDA didn’t check it out until, I think, December, and then they shut down the factory in February. The president, the only one who can invoke the Defense Production Act to force companies to produce this incredibly, direly needed infant formula, he’s not told until April,” Tapper asserted.

“I want to be very clear,” Deese responded in part (and in politics, the word clear is almost always a tell,) “that the president’s role in this has been at the right and appropriate moments, when we needed to do things like the Defense Production Act, when we needed to take extraordinary measures like Operation Fly Formula, he has been informed, he has directed the action that we have taken.”

Tapper was still unpersuaded.

“So the whistleblower complaint in the fall, the FDA waited until December to act, waited until February to shut the plant down. President Biden wasn’t told about it until April. You don’t think any of that should have been done more quickly or sooner? You think everything just went exactly how it’s supposed to?” he asked.

With some additional bureaucratic word salad, Deese told the CNN anchor that FDA Commissioner Robert Califf plans to investigate how things were handled, adding that “those evaluations with respect to the facility and making safety judgments, I will leave to the FDA.”

“I don’t need the FDA to investigate itself to come to the judgment that they did not act quickly enough, and on behalf of all of the frustrated moms and dads and guardians out there, I hope you don’t either,” Tapper said sharply.

Deese was in the middle of a statement that it was about the FDA following the science, a familiar refrain, when the camera came loose.

“The camera fell down. Okay: Brian Deese, thank you so much,” an amused Tapper concluded.

  1. Sometimes even the democrats news media gets tired of the White House pissing on their leg and telling them it’s raining. Rare but it happens…rarely

  2. So, even the Dems pet poodle is upset at the incompetence of this administration. No wonder why the camera fell over.

  3. As far as Biden’s administration is concern, slow Joe is on need to know basis, they don’t want to confuse an already confused fool.

  4. Sounds like a very well timed equipment malfunction. Once again, surprisingly, some hard questions from CNN started coming and a camera malfunction saved the day. Just another day in the life of our clown car regime.

Let’s go Brandon and take your clown car regime with you.

  5. Biden supposedly said he’s frustrated that his administration is constantly walking back his statements….and then his Press Sec. walked THAT back too. How much more proof of RAGING stupidity from Biden’s Bungling Brothers Circus do democrat voters need? Biden has a 30% approval….FROM WHO? Who approves of this inept fool? Are those voters sentient?

  6. The one thing that biden and the white house are absolutely expert at is bullshit!

    1. Biden constantly defecates on himself, they can’t keep up with changing his “depend”. LOL

  7. I am yet leary of CNN, however, if this interview proves true; we now have some proof that Creepy Joe is surrounded by those who would “Shield” him from information until Jill can prepare him for it! Even then…. he still doesn’t understand the FACTS and screws them up. Isn’t it amazing how inept this administration is compared to Pres.Trumps?

    1. I’m not sure that Biden is being “shielded”. I think he has surrounded himself with inept, stupid twits who have no idea how to run a country. Biden obviously cannot because he is in the throws of dementia. When you hire people based upon the way they look or whether or not you owe them a favor, it’s going to be a mess. And this is only the beginning.

  8. Now that the American Pravda sees the Democratic Party becoming the Black Socialist Party of America thru are in a panic. The 60/80 congressional seats lost will be all white in swing districts.

  9. When you have a shadow President, it isn’t really important for his handlers to inform him of anything. Let’s face it…they’re filling his feeble brain with policy about Taiwan and he can’t even get that one thing right for them. These handlers are busy people…with foisting defunding the police, not closing the open border, finding newer ways to appease Iran, covering for failing to deter Russia from invading the Ukraine, etc. so how can they be expected to prioritize having adequate supplies of food for American infants? You people are so critical!

  10. Just like a Child, always blaming someone or something else. “ Excuses are like A$$holes, we all have one And they All Stink.” “ You don’t have to be the brains to be the boss, just An A$$hole.” biden and his cronies Prove That Everyday.

  11. Let me be very clear…”I’m about to lie to you, and I want you not to laugh Tapper. You can be replaced if we feel you are about to become a journalist”.

  12. Ever notice when the Democrats are asked the hard questions by ANY of the media all you get is incoherent blabber about shit we already knew. In this rare occasion a CNN commentary holds their feet to the fire and demands an answer to the question. When and Why didn’t Biden know about the baby formula shortage? The answer to that question is not a 25 part essay. It is a 2 part question that takes less than 5 seconds. And people still support this White House.
