Daily Beast issues apology to Hunter Biden laptop repairman

After nearly being ruined by corporate media’s aggressive suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story at the behest of the Democratic Party, the computer repairman who presented the evidence to authorities may finally be seeing retribution thanks to a defamation lawsuit.

John Paul Mac Isaac, 45, is known for having his reputation dragged through the mud ahead of the 2020 presidential election as coordinated damage control for the infamous laptop’s October surprise labeled the computer repairman a thief and a Russian agent. The stories churned out by CNN, Politico, and The Daily Beast promulgated in part by House Intel Committee chairman Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) forced Mac Isaac to close up his Delaware shop and seek refuge with family in Colorado.

Now, as an investigation into Hunter Biden’s taxes may bring an indictment and media outlets have confirmed the long-known veracity of the laptop, The Daily Beast has quietly updated a December 2020 story with an editor’s note that retracts their earlier claims about Mac Isaac’s integrity.

“An earlier version of this story mistakenly referred to Hunter Biden’s laptop as ‘stolen.’ We have removed that word, and we apologize to Mr. Mac Isaac for the error,” the note read as part of the update provided Wednesday.

At the beginning of May, Mac Isaac was backed by the non-profit group The America Project in introducing a defamation suit seeking “at least $1 million in compensatory damages [and] punitive damages” against Schiff, CNN, The Daily Beast, and Politico whom the suit alleges worked “together to ‘block a real story with real consequences.'”

According to Fox News correspondent Trace Gallagher, on Wednesday, “Mac Isaac’s attorney said, ‘Today, John Paul and The Daily Beast settled amicably.’ That means a friendly settlement or as some legal experts would surmise, it means The Daily Beast decided to pay up and move on, though The Daily Beast has not commented.”

The initial story that alleged Mac Isaac had “purloined” the laptop was also updated Wednesday. However, The Daily Beast did not make note of what specific correction had been made for the allegedly defamatory report.

Gallagher went on to address that there had been no word from the other parties named in the suit, but added, “I don’t think it would be breaking news if a few more of these amicable settlements were in the works.”

“Well, we know that this whole smear on Joe Biden comes from the Kremlin,” Schiff reportedly said to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer ahead of the election. “That’s been clear for well over a year now that they’ve been pushing this false narrative about the Vice President and his son.”

The lawsuit went on to allege, “CNN’s broadcast of the false statement accuse the Plaintiff of committing an infamous crime, i.e., treason by working with Russians to commit a crime against the United States of America by attempting to undermine American democracy and the 2020 Presidential election. Without any intel, the head of the intel committee decided to share with CNN and its viewers a complete and utter lie. A lie issued in the protection of a preferred presidential candidate.”

Mac Isaac who faced potential bankruptcy in the wake of his defamation noted of the suit, “The fight to get to the bottom of who told everyone this was Russian disinformation is far more important for the nation than me clearing my name.”
