Feds foil ISIS plot to assassinate fmr. President Bush with killers smuggled across porous Southern border

In a disturbing story that should raise major concerns about President Joe Biden’s open borders immigration policies, an ISIS operative was charged for spearheading a terrorist plot to murder former President George W. Bush using four assassins who would gain entry to the U.S. through the porous southern border.

On Tuesday, an alleged ISIS operative living in Columbus, Ohio was arrested by FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force agents for his role in orchestrating the plot to exact an act of terrible revenge against Bush who while in office, ordered the regime change operation against Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein and the occupation of the country in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Shihab Ahmed Shihab Shihab, a 52-year-old Iraqi citizen was charged in federal court “with an immigration crime and with aiding and abetting a plot to murder former United States President George W. Bush,” according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of Ohio.

According to a report from Forbes which first broke the news, the suspect traveled to Dallas last November to “take video around the former president’s home and recruiting a team of compatriots he hoped to smuggle into the country over the Mexican border, according to an FBI search-warrant application filed March 23 and unsealed this week in the Southern District of Ohio.”

“The FBI said it uncovered the scheme through the work of two confidential informants and surveillance of the alleged plotter’s account on the Meta-owned WhatsApp messaging platform. The suspect, Shihab Ahmed Shihab Shihab, based in Columbus, Ohio, said he wanted to assassinate Bush because he felt the former president was responsible for killing many Iraqis and breaking apart the country after the 2003 U.S. military invasion, according to the warrant,” Forbes reported.

The outlet published an excerpt from an FBI search warrant detailing the foiled plot against the former POTUS.

According to the Southern District of Ohio U.S. Attorney’s Office press release, “Shihab originally entered the United States in September 2020 on a visitor visa, and in March 2021, he filed a claim for asylum with United States citizenship, which is pending review. He lived in both Columbus, Ohio, and Indianapolis and worked at markets and restaurants in both cities.”

“It is alleged that Shihab exchanged money with others in an attempt to illegally bring foreign nationals to the United States,” the statement reads. “For example, in August 2021, Shihab allegedly intended to help who he thought was another Iraqi citizen enter the United States for a fee of $40,000. Shihab provided specific instructions on how he would smuggle the person into the United States after 60 days. In October and December 2021, Shihab accepted tens of thousands of dollars for the purported smuggling. In reality, the individual was fictitious, and the interaction was coordinated under the direction of the FBI.”

“The charging document also alleges that Shihab planned to smuggle four additional Iraqi foreign nationals into the United States for the purpose of killing former President George W. Bush in retaliation of Iraqi deaths during ‘Operation Iraqi Freedom.’ Shihab then allegedly planned to smuggle the four out of the United States via the United States/Mexico border after they carried out the assassination,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office details. “In furtherance of the assassination plot, Shihab allegedly traveled to Dallas in February 2022 to conduct surveillance of locations associated with the former President. In March 2022, it is alleged Shihab met with others in a hotel room in Columbus, Ohio, to look at sample firearms and law enforcement uniforms.”

Many reacted to the outrageous revelation, including Republican Senator Ted Cruz of Texas,

While the busting up of the terrorist plot shows that federal law enforcement continues to diligently monitor such threats, the idea that the mastermind of the scheme to murder Bush sought to exploit the southern border in order to smuggle in the hitmen speaks volumes about President Joe Biden’s disastrous policies.
