69-yr-old Florida woman says she warned home invader to ‘back off dude’, but he didn’t. Now, he’s dead.

A 69-year-old-woman in Florida remembers telling a home invader to “back off” before shooting him dead, she says, as she recalled the day of the alleged invasion.

The United States 2nd Amendment and Florida’s Stand Your Ground state law once again helped save two innocent lives, potentially; they certainly helped stop an alleged home burglary in progress.

“Back off, dude,” are the words Orange County-based homeowner Virginia Morrison recalled shouting at the man who broke into her house in an attempted but botched robbery, according to WESH.

“I fired a shot above him,” she recounted. “‘Back off, dude, I’ll shoot you.’ And he just keeps coming toward me. So I shot him.”

She recalled the events very vividly.

“I heard the door handle rattle,” she said. “Then, the door opened, and the guy stepped into my house. I didn’t know who he was. I looked at him and I said, ‘who are you and what do you want?’ The whole time… he never said one word, and I never saw his eyes move.”

Morrison said she rushed into her bedroom and told her partner, Charlie, who is nearly 80-years-old, that there was a home invasion taking place by an unknown male intruder.

Morrison and her partner reportedly called the police first.

“I looked at him,” she said about Charlie. “I said, ‘Get your gun!’ because [Charlie] had a 45 laying on the bed. ‘Get your gun.”

Morrison explained she did not initially want to harm the burglar. So she first gave him a strong and serious warning, letting him know that she was armed and would open fire if he did not stand down.

“I said, ‘I’m getting my damn gun,’ so I went to my bedroom and got my gun. I went out the back door and I came to the fence, and he sees me. He starts toward me,” she said.

Then, she recounted, she fired a warning shot near the intruder, giving him another chance to surrender before shooting at him, directly.

“That gun never fazed this guy,” she said. “Just a total blank.”

That’s when she felt that she had no other choice but to defend herself, her partner, and her home from the invader, Morrison claimed as she did not know the subject’s intentions, as he never once spoke back to her or responded verbally or physically to her warnings.

Police reportedly responded to the woman’s call at 12:40 p.m., regarding an alleged home invasion on Bentwood Street in the Azalea Park neighborhood of Orlando; they later arrived and found the alleged thief, a man in his 30s, with a gunshot wound.

He later died in the hospital of the wounds.

Monday afternoon, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office identified the alleged intruder as 38-year-old Ezequiel Rosario-Torres.

“I had to do what I had to do to protect myself and Charlie. And I would do it again. If I had to, but I don’t want to do that,” she said, becoming emotional. “I hope God can forgive me for taking a man’s life.”

Neither Morrison nor her partner Charlie sustained injuries during the alleged attempted burglary incident.

  2. And THAT’S how it should work! God bless you and yes, God will forgive you.

  3. IT IS NOT “STAND YOUR GROUND” IN YOUR OWN HOME. “Stand Your Ground” refers to being in PUBLIC area that you have a legal right to be in, such as a store, gas station, etc. This would be “Castle Doctrine” since it was an invasion of her castle. I wish that idiot Obama had never used the term since he used it incorrectly.

    1. It’s used correctly. Many states had a “duty to retreat” meaning if you could back away from a conflict, you were required to do so. Stand your ground simply means, inside your home or out, that you have no duty to retreat.

  4. I love a happy ending. Florida does not require a warning shot so next time save yourself a bullet.

  5. You could have called the police ,
but they would have found you and your partner dead and him gone with the loot long gone . Good thinking .
Firm believer to shoot , ask questions later in a situation as that .
    .It’s HEALTHIER .

  6. Ezequiel Rosario-Torres wasn’t paying attention in his English as a Second Language class.

  7. YOU GO GIRL !! WAITING FOR THE POLICE TO GET THERE COULD MAKE YOU DEAD !! F.J.B.

  8. PHUCKUR LOGGING IN 3-4 TIMES A DAY !! ITS KRAPOLA AND HARRASSMENT FOR SURE !!

  9. If he would have been arrested, some democrap prosecutor would release him in 3 hours to let him get back to robbing his next victim. IF the crook didn’t speak English, he should learn English BEFORE committing crimes so he can understand commands to understand that his potential victim is armed to the teeth and WILL shoot.

  10. As D.A. I’d refuse to bring charges against her regardless but I’m curious as to whether he was in the house or back yard at the time he took a slug to the dome.

  11. Another one bites the dust!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    MORE, MORE, MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. NEVER fire a warning shot!!!! You don’t know where the round might end up, and how would you feel if you killed the little girl in the house behind yours? It’s also illegal in most places to fire a warning shot for the reasons I already stated. Lastly, unless you’ve got a belt-fed gun, you never know when or if you might need that round you carelessly fired away. Fire for effect if you’re going to shoot, aim center mass, shift aim slightly, fire again. Open and shut case of self-defense.

  13. My guess is that he couldn’t speak English? But a house invasion is very likely to get someone killed, at least in Florida. Luckily it wasn’t one of those in the home this time.

  14. Sounds like the lady did what she had to do reluctantly. This administration would like to leave people like her defenseless to crimes like this.
